Happy Wednesday Friends! I hope everyone is doing great!

Special thanks to Angelica Dawson for rallying authors together to share teases every week.

~~~~~~~
This week’s tease comes from STIRRING UP DIRTY, book 1 of “Stirred by Love” series.
Here, Eric has just returned home from having a few drinks, his sister invited Candy to stay the night because of a project they’d been working on, and Eric is only too happy to find her. And again, the chemistry between the two characters smolders.
While writing it, it was unexpected to include a fellow Evernight Publishing title, it came out of nowhere, but this scene was a lot of fun.
© Kacey Hammell, 2017
“Get out of here, Eric. I watched you get out of the truck. You’ve had too much to drink.”
He advanced toward her. She inched back higher against the headboard. Those frickin’ tingles along every inch of her body were back again. The last thing she needed was for him to get too close. Fighting every urge to jump on him, she concentrated on her breathing, and the frustration he caused.
“I only had three before coming home. I’m not so tanked I don’t know what I’m doing.” He looked around at the papers still on the bed. “What are you doing?”
“Working.”
“At this hour? Do you never give it a rest?”
She scooped up the top folder and slapped it on top of her tablet. Kicking her legs free from their folded position, she pushed at his legs with her feet. “Get off. Go to bed. I’m tired.”StirringUpDirty-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2015-3Drender
He snatched the last folder, then froze.
Candy’s breath caught in her throat. Oh, darn it all to hell.
So she hadn’t worked all night. She’d gone to bed with one of her favorite past times. A good book to settle in with and relax until sleep claimed her.
But the particular book in her briefcase was one she kept tucked away in the privacy of her bedroom. The cover, intoxicatingly gorgeous and sexy, with the lone male on the front dressed in fatigues, and his uniform shirt open to reveal a perfectly sculpted chest and hot abs. The man was a god among men. The fantasy of each woman worldwide who would appreciate the male form from head to toe, and loved hard muscle to grab hold of.
“Give me that.”
“What the hell is this? Uniform Fetish? A new version of Playboy?”
She reached out for the book but he moved back and held it above his head. She dropped her arms, frustrated. “No, you moron. It’s a book. You know with words inside. Have you ever read one?”
He glared at her, then to her mortification, opened it to a random page. His eyes widened.
Her cheeks burned. Shit. So she enjoyed a hot erotic romance book now and again. She wouldn’t admit that she read more than four a month, even with her schedule. Getting lost in a hot fantasy at the end of a hectic day was heaven. She’d been a fan of the genre for over a decade, long before most people cared to admit it existed.
“Jesus. The dude, Miles is going down on her, eating her pussy like there’s no tomorrow. And she loves it.” Eric read further, his facial features almost making her laugh. He was humored by it, probably even a bit enamored but he’d never admit it.
“Is this what women read to get turned on?”
She shrugged. “Hell if I know. I’m not every woman.”
“No, but you’re the only one here who’s been reading this…what the hell do I call it…filth?”
Charging on to her knees, she snatched the book from his palms. “Of course not. You have no understanding about it. Have you ever written a book? Don’t call it what it isn’t. Erotic romances are meant to titillate and seduce the reader. If you must know, I enjoy the journey of the characters, the self-discovery about themselves and the desires to fulfill every fantasy.”
She tossed the book on the night table and waved her hands toward him. “You can go now. I’m done explaining a good book to you.”
“Don’t be defensive. I’m curious. I mean, reading about sex…” He lifted his grey eyes, and they latched onto hers. “Does it turn you on?”
Warmth washed over her. She wanted to kick the light covers off her legs and let the air cool her off. But the intense flames shooting from his eyes held her captive. Trembling, she drew on the strength to steady her breathing. When he moved closer, pulling the sheet away from her legs, and wrapping a hand around each of her ankles, her plan was shot to hell.
Welcome to the Authors in Bloom Blog Hop!
DianneVenetta_AIB-Logo_2015-250x250
I try very hard to eat light and well, always, but especially through the spring/summer seasons. I love salads, various kinds of lettuce and light dressings.
Here is the recipe to one of my favourites, and it is so easy to make, it’s a MUST in anyone’s recipe book
CREAMY CUCUMBER SALAD
Makes 4 servings
Takes about 15 minutes total of prep time.
INGREDIENTS:
2 medium cucumbers, peeled and thinly sliced
2 teaspoons salt
2/3 cup plain non-fat yogurt
1 teaspoon lemon juice
6 radishes, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon chopped dill
DIRECTIONS:
  1. Toss together the sliced cucumbers and salt in a colander. Let stand to drain for 45 minutes. Press the excess water out of the cucumbers and pat dry. Place in a bowl.
  2. Add the yogurt and lemon juice and toss well. Stir in the sliced radishes and chopped dill. Serve chilled.
Here’s a look inside the newest release in my Canadian Muscle Series:
Canadian Muscle …
When Desires Need Protecting.
CDNMuscle
The Canadian Muscle series is set in Vancouver, Canada, and revolves around military men, FBI, the Vixen Dance Club and men who will do anything to protect those they love.
The series begins with Guarding Midnight, Gavin Bennett and Shree Walker. Their chemistry is immediate and palpable. Shree is new to town, and Gavin returns after being gone a long time, and while his sole purpose is to protect his best friend’s sister, there’s no denying that Gavin’s distracted by the new dancer in town. Gavin’s protection for the town against a ruthless villain is a blessing for everyone and changes his life. Danger, kidnapping, bullets flying, it all makes for an explosive adventure and a happily ever after.
In Book 2: Guarding His Anchor, Frank Shaw returns to town (who we met in book 1) and throws Charlotte Weber’s life into a tailspin. Since they wrapped up the case in Guarding Midnight, Frank has been in and out of Charlie’s life like a revolving door. Just when she’s ready to forget about Frank, he reappears and is hot on the trail of a criminal who’s wanted for murder, drug and human trafficking, and more. Unfortunately, their explosive relationship is ten times harder because the criminal he’s after, is Charlotte’s own brother. A tale of suspense, danger and conflict, Guarding His Anchor was taxing to write, but I completely loved everything about it.
There’s nothing like returning to familiar faces and the hearts that I’ve already connected with. The Canadian Muscle Series has been one of my absolute favourites to write and the characters are wrapped around my heart like fleece blankets.
At the end of Guarding His Anchor, things are set in motion for book 3 and I can’t wait to dig in and start writing that story this summer.
I hope you enjoy the Muscle as much as I did writing it!
Shree Walker is on the run from a dark past she tried to shut away. Battered and broken, a happily ever after doesn’t exist for her. Excerpt:
The second she was gone the asshole in the room spoke up. “You’re wasting your time fighting it.”
His fork clattered to his plate. “What the fuck is wrong with you? Stop shoving me at your wife!”
Austin stared past Cord, his face filling with concern.
Shit. Ember stood in the doorway, eyes wide, frozen in place, clutching a white frosted cake heaped with strawberries.
Goddamn Austin and his stupid ideas. “Ember—”
“I…I forgot the knife.” She quickly placed the dishes on the table, her steps faltering, and fled to the kitchen.
“Great,” Cord snapped, bunching up his napkin and tossing it on the table. “Enjoy your fucking cake. I’m out of here.”
Austin opened his big mouth, but Cord was done talking to him. Reasoning with Austin was like trying to discuss physics with a chimp. “Shut it, Austin.”
He detoured to the kitchen, unable to take his rage out on her. “Ember, I didn’t mean—”
“It’s okay.” Her fingers twisted into a dishcloth and then she dashed away a tear.
Fuck. Tears. Not tears! His concern shifted into panic. “It’s not okay. I don’t know what Austin told you—”
“I know what he’s up to. I told him not to do this.”
She fucking knew her husband was messing with him? It didn’t make any sense. “Why is he doing this?”
Now she shrugged. “He’s Austin. Once he gets something in his head…”
Cord rubbed his palm over his face and squeezed. “What does he expect to gain from this? He’s just making an uncomfortable situation worse.”
“He’s trying to fix it. He doesn’t understand, because he wasn’t there. He thinks if we put everything out in the open the guilt will go away. He thinks it’s best to deal with it.”
“Deal with it how?” He wasn’t a fucking puppet Austin could place in whatever position he wanted.
“I don’t know. I barely understand what I’m feeling right now. I can’t pretend to understand what he’s going through. Or you, for that matter.”
All thoughts of her husband vanished as he focused on the ‘f’ word, for his sins. “What are you feeling?”
Her face tightened and her hand pressed into her chest, her eyes betraying her show of bravado. “Here. It hurts. I don’t know how to make it stop, Cord.”
“Hurts how?” He took a slow step closer, keeping his voice low.
Eyes pleading, she looked up at him, her mouth tight with worry. “When I’m near you, my heart beats so fast I’m afraid it’ll explode. But I know I can’t… I can’t express what’s inside of me. Then this unbearable ache takes hold. It just…hurts.”
#BookFeature ~ The Night Gardener by E.D. Parr #MM #ERom #PNR @parr_books @EvernightPub
The Night Gardener
E.D.Parr
#MMromance new
release from Evernight Publishing
Architect, Dane Lovell takes an off-season vacation in an old New England mansion, hoping to ease his broken heart, and spark his imagination. Impressed by the pretty gardens, he’s surprised by the sinister atmosphere of the river than winds through the estate. Dane settles down to his vacation and tries to immerse himself in his drawings. One night, the sound of the back door smashing open in the wind and rain shocks Dane from his work.
Spooky, gorgeous, and enigmatic Zachary Yarrow has brought logs for the fire. He’s the estate gardener and brings with him not just passion and a love affair for Dane, but a strange, spine-tingling mystery.
Who is Zachary, and what will happen when Dane finds out?
From the author,
Inspired by some wild countryside, and a rushing river that stormed under a bridge so loudly, I couldn’t hear what a friend said to me, for me this story is as much about nature as love. I’ve always believed there are more things in the elegant stream of life than we know about, and this story is about a young man who loves life so much he finds a way to live it. There are some heartstring tugs in this story, and some hot love scenes, because this is a love story. It’s a journey for both characters, Dane and Zachary to deep, lasting love.
Read an excerpt
The gardener slotted his logs into the spaces between other logs already in the nook bricked into the side of the fireplace. “Zachary Yarrow.”
Dane folded his arms over his body, wishing he’d thought to close the door as chilling air swept along the hall and into the room. “Dane Lovell.”
Zachary stood, having completed his task. “You’re here off season. I guess you know. I always do the gardens off-season—have done for the last—well, for years. When I’m here, I usually stay in this cottage. I guess I need to find somewhere else this time.”
Cold, Dane accepted the information with a nod. “I need to close the door, Mr. Yarrow.” He returned to the back door and closed it up.
Zachary Yarrow had followed. “You can call me Zachary.”
Dane hung around near the back door. The gardener showed no signs of leaving and Dane didn’t know how to be rude enough just to ask him to go.
“It’s way too dark to garden. You’re wet through.” Dane’s gaze ranged over the sodden
sweater Zachary wore, and along the rain-darkened jeans covering Zachary’s muscled thighs.
The guy has to be cold. “Can I offer you a cup of coffee?”
Zachary grinned happily. “A cup of coffee, yeah, that will be great, thanks.”
Dane led the way back into the kitchen. “Sit by one of the radiators and try to dry
out a little.” He put water to boil and heaped instant into mugs. “I can lend you a dry sweater…”
Zachary leaned close to the radiator. “It’s okay. I’ll drape my sweater on here. It’ll be dry in no time.” He pulled the soggy item over his head and arranged it on the hot metal flutes.
Dane experienced a shock of attraction as he took in the smooth, muscled chest on
display when Zachary turned to him.
“Look, it’s already steaming.”
Dane tore his gaze from Zachary’s body and glanced at the sweater. The kettle boiled and he whipped around to make the coffee, thankful for the diversion.
“Do you take sugar or cream?”
Zachary’s voice came from immediately behind him. “Black, thank you, no sugar.”
Dane closed his eyes to dissipate the surprise Zachary’s silent approach gave him. He edged around to face Zachary, who stood so close Dane’s composure flew clean away as his whole body reacted to the proximity of this complete hunk. Holy hell, he is completely gorgeous. Dane stepped sideways and picked up a mug. He handed it to Zachary. “Coffee, er, sorry, its instant. I’ve given myself a vacation from grounds and filters.” He smiled apologetically.
Zachary studied him for a few seconds.
Dane had the distinct feeling Zachary knew exactly what he was thinking.
#MidWeekTease ~ “Your ego is out of control.” #StirringUpDirty #StirredbyLoveSeries
MWTease15
Happy Wednesday Friends! I hope everyone is doing fabulous!
Special thanks to Angelica Dawson for rallying authors together to share teases every week.
This week’s tease comes from STIRRING UP DIRTY, book 1 of “Stirred by Love” series. Things are not easy between Eric and Candy. She’s fed up with him, he’s being stubborn…
© Kacey Hammell, 2017
“What are you doing here, Eric?” Arms folded under her lovely breasts, she stood, chin raised as she blocked the door. Her eyes burned with irritation.
He deserved her scorn after the way they’d left things last night. “I just wanted to apologize for last night. I acted like an ass.”
“Tell me something I don’t already know.”
Swallowing hard, he clenched his fists. “Look, I am sorry. I shouldn’t have let things get so out of hand. But once I got started, and you were so hot in my—” He glanced around him. “Can we take this inside?”
Candy glared at him for a few seconds, then sighed and took a step back. He entered and she closed the door firmly behind him.stirringupdirty1l
“You have ten minutes. I have things to do. Have a seat.”
He sat in the chair by the small desk in the sitting area. “As I was saying, I am sorry.”
“Yes.” She sat at the end of the sofa across from him. “You said that. There’s nothing to apologize for. We were both there.” The ire in her eyes pinned him in place. “But that doesn’t excuse your callous words. You were a shit.”
The woman didn’t mince words. He liked that about her.
“I know. I shouldn’t have said those things. But you have to give me a bit of leniency. What am I to think? I know you want to take Melissa all over the world and I have a feeling you’ll do anything to make that happen.”
Candy threw up her arms, obviously frustrated. He was sure he heard an animalistic sound come from her as she stood and began pacing.
“Of course I would. I believe in everything your sister is, and all that she can accomplish. You should, too. But I would never use myself in such a fashion to do it. I am a professional and have too much integrity to do that. And you know dick about me if you really think I’d use you like that, or embarrass myself. Hell, it would be offending Melissa, too. God, your ego is out of control.” Her cheeks were flushed, he’d guess in frustration. He found it endearing.
The long skirt fluttered the more she paced back and forth. Her ass and flat belly looked incredibly hot. And the way the halter top hugged her firm breasts… His mouth watered. Images of her coming last night filled his head. His dick hardened remembering her wild cries of pleasure.
Shaking his head, he adjusted in his seat and tried to focus on the task at hand. “You’re right.”
“Absolutely.”
Eric sighed. She was quick with her comebacks. He’d probably never win against her. At least not this morning.
“I mean, you’re right. I don’t know dick about you. And there’s probably going to be little time to make that happen. We both lead hectic lives, it seems. Plus you’ll be gone and back to your world soon. But you won’t take Melissa with you.”
Candy snorted and stormed toward him. “You need to get it in your thick skull that she’s an adult, Eric.” She rubbed her palms together. “She’s serious about this. Sticking her in a courtroom is not going to make her happy. And she already has me putting out feelers for work this month. She probably already has her bags packed.”
Christ. He thought Melissa wanted to discuss things first, not come home just to leave again. Probably for good. He clenched his teeth, anger rising. He needed to keep her close.
She is an adult, old man.
He shook off the little voice in his head. It didn’t matter. He had to convince his little sister that following the lawyer path was the right one.
Out Now—An Interesting Find by Lucy Felthouse (@cw1985) #menage #military #gay
Blurb:
Nathan and Lee are on a relaxing summer holiday in the UK. They plan to do lots of walking and exploring in the beautiful English countryside. Naturally, typical British weather derails their plans on their first day, leaving them cooped up indoors with little to do but read.
When the weather clears, the men eagerly put on their hiking boots and head out for a walk. However, when they reach their destination—a pond a little distance from their holiday cottage—they make a shocking discovery. An odd-looking bundle of rags turns out to be an unconscious man. With no one else around, and no mobile phone signal to call for help, they manage to get the stranger back to their cottage to get him warm and dry, and figure out what to do next.
When their unexpected house guest regains consciousness, however, things just get more complicated. The stranger—a British soldier called Jonny—doesn’t want the authorities to be notified of his presence. As the three men try to come to some agreement, the sexual tension in the air becomes apparent, and suddenly the last thing on any of their minds is leaving the cottage…
Excerpt:
Closing his book with a very final slap, Nathan then put it on the coffee table in front of him. He leaned back in his chair. Stretching languidly, he said, “Bloody good, that was. Though, admittedly, I thought it’d last me all week. Wasn’t expecting to get through it on day one.”
Raising an eyebrow, Lee shot Nathan an amused glance. “Not far off myself. Fucking storm. Stupid us, eh, going on holiday in the UK in summertime—not like you can guarantee the sodding weather, is it? Should’ve gone to the Canaries.”
“No, we can’t guarantee the weather, but…” Nathan gave the window a sidelong glance, “I do have some good news.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. The torrential downpour has stopped.”
“Seriously?” Lee slammed his own book closed and scurried over to the window. “Oh, wow, it’s cleared right up, and I can see a rainbow. Wanna head out? Just a little wander down to that pond we saw on the way here, maybe? Get some fresh air. We’ve got loads of daylight left, haven’t we?”
Nathan checked his watch. “Yeah, plenty. Especially if we’re only nipping to the pond. It’s probably only a fifteen-minute walk.”
“Fantastic. I was going a bit fucking stir crazy in here. I’ll grab our coats and shoes.”
Lee had disappeared into the hallway of their rented holiday cottage before Nathan had the chance to reply. Shaking his head with a smile, Nathan collected their empty mugs from the coffee table and took them into the kitchen, then got a bottle of water from the fridge. He doubted they’d need a drink during their short trek along the road, but he could just shove the bottle in his coat pocket and forget about it. At least it’d be there if they wanted it.
When he returned to the living room, Lee was just about to tie up his laces.
“I got water,” Nathan said, brandishing the bottle.
“Cool. Shoes are there.” He nodded to the chair Nathan had been sitting in. Sure enough, his trail shoes were waiting on the floor in front of it.
“Thanks.”
Within a few minutes, they were headed out of the door. Nathan locked up, pocketed the key, then checked the handle. He doubted very much the place would get broken into—they were in the middle of nowhere, after all. There were farms nearby, but the closest village was about a mile and a half away. So any thieves would have to make a considerable effort to get to the cottage in the first place, never mind attempt to break into it. Rolling his eyes at his own paranoia, he turned and followed Lee, who’d already started walking slowly along the road in the direction of the pond.
After falling into step beside Lee, Nathan pulled in some deep breaths, enjoying the fresh air after being cooped up in the cottage. It was a beautiful and cozy place, but it was supposed to be a base for them to go walking—somewhere for them to eat, sleep and shower, not to be stuck in for hours on end, staring at the walls. Or climbing them.
He admired the rainbow as they walked, its vivid colors painted across the watery sky. It seemed the clouds had literally exhausted themselves—only occasional wispy streaks of white now interrupted the never-ending blue. The sun beamed down, heating up the ground and beginning to evaporate the huge puddles. It would take some doing—one such puddle stretched across the width of the road, and they had to skirt around its edge to avoid getting wet feet.
Nathan smiled. Though the storm itself had been grim, the washed-out aftermath made everything feel fresh, clean somehow.
“You look thoughtful,” Lee said, breaking into his reverie. “A penny for them?”
“Mmm. It’s one of those things that sounds better in your head than said out loud.”
“Try me.”
Shrugging, Nathan replied. “Nothing major. Just admiring the rainbow, the sky, the clouds… Thinking how everything looks so fresh and clean after a good storm. Like it’s been purified, or something… Ugh, it’s stupid.”
Lee stopped and reached for Nathan’s hand. His green eyes were wide and filled with wonder. “No, it isn’t. Not at all—I was thinking something similar myself. It’s kinda romantic, isn’t it? Purification, rebirth, and all that.”
“In a roundabout way, maybe. I dunno.” He shrugged again.
Lee’s eyes narrowed, and his lips curved into a wicked grin. “We could make it romantic.”
“How so?”
“Come here, and I’ll show you.” Still gripping Nathan’s hand, Lee tugged him close and moved in for a kiss. Nathan went into the embrace willingly, the smile on his face soon smothered by Lee’s hot lips.
