Spotlight ~ Mr. Red by Amber Morgan #ERom #DarkRomance #OneClick @AmberMothling @EvernightPub

Hello! Thank you for having me today and allowing me to introduce Mr. Red to you all 🙂
You know, I’m sure I say the same thing about every book – that I had loads of fun writing it – but I really did have loads of fun writing this story. I started it because I needed a distraction from another project that wasn’t going very well, and before I knew it, Mr. Red and Ally had taken over my life.
The story just came pouring out, and ended up being double the length I anticipated. I really just didn’t want to stop writing! Hopefully the fun I had is reflected in the story. Enjoy!

When Ally Mosconi’s father trades her in to his mysterious Mafia boss topay a debt, Ally knows her life has changed forever. The man she calls Mr. Red is domineering, demanding, and utterly ruthless. She knows she needs to break free – but with her father’s life in the
balance, what can she do to challenge Mr. Red’s control? And as she falls deeper under his spell, she begins to question exactly how much she wants to escape.

“Sing me something,” he said. Ordered, really.
Ally floundered, caught off-guard. “Now? No. I can’t. I haven’t…”
“I don’t expect a flawless performance. I just want to hear you sing.” A hint of impatience entered his voice. “In case you had forgotten, we are negotiating. Consider this the first  step.” He clicked his fingers at her, the way customers did in the restaurant. It was rude and domineering, and it always made her mad.
And just like she did when it happened at work, Ally fought the anger. As a waitress, she couldn’t lose her temper with the customers no matter how rude they were. As Mr Red’s  prisoner, she had to be even more careful, and she already knew he disliked her talking back. While she might forget that when there seemed to be nothing at stake, if he was
being honest with her now, there might be something to gain by co-operating. So she swallowed her annoyance with a huge effort.
She stood, nerves jangling. Jesus, what he if thought she was shit? What if she was shit? She hadn’t sang outside of the shower for a long time. She pressed her hand to her stomach, trying to settle the butterflies, and then she closed her eyes and started singing.
She wasn’t sure what was going to come out of her mouth until she started, and she was morbidly amused to realize she was singing Wait from Sweenie Todd. She was pretty sure Mr Red had been expecting something more classical, more…operatic, but she didn’t dare  open her eyes to gauge his reaction. She’d sung the song dozens of times, having played Mrs Lovett in a high school production, and she was confident her voice wasn’t going to crack on any difficult notes.
She was on the first chorus when she heard his chair scrape back as if he was rising from the table. Inexplicably panicked, she flubbed a line and opened her eyes to see him stalking towards her.
“Don’t stop,” he said.
The sight of him approaching, full of quiet menace, was too much for her shaking nerves. She closed her eyes again and carried on. She sensed him move behind her, caught a whiff of his seductive cologne, and her voice faltered again. When he rested his hands on her  hips, she had to stop. He was too close, too overwhelming.
“Don’t stop,” he said again, voice hard.
“I can’t concentrate when you touch me,” she said, then bit her lip, realizing too late how it sounded.
He laughed, low and dirty, and slid his hands up her sides to skim just under her breasts. “You have a good voice. I know an excellent vocal coach.”
She tried not to think about the warmth of his hands, the pressure of his fingers. Her back was to his chest, and she felt trapped…but not unpleasantly so. She tried not to think about that either. “There’s no point. The best vocal coach in the world can’t give me a relevant musical degree or the years of experience I’ve missed.”
“Hmm.” He ran his fingertips up over her breasts, the light touch drawing a hiss from her. He toyed with the top button of the dress, popping it open. “Wouldn’t it be worth doing just for the pleasure of it?” he asked.
Heat pooled in her belly, and she had to parse his words twice to be sure it wasn’t some innuendo. “I…suppose.”
“After all, it would be a trip out of the apartment a couple of times a week,” he continued. “With a bodyguard, of course.”
Galvanized by those words, Ally pulled free and whipped round to face him. “What?”
Hope and suspicion warred in her. “You’d let me go out? For singing lessons?” Where was the catch?
“Maybe,” Mr Red said. His gaze was focused on her chest, on the small glimpse of
cleavage showing where he’d unbuttoned the dress. “If you gave me something in return.” He opened the next button.

Feature Friday ~ Lioness Hunting by Amber Morgan #Shifters #Menage #PNR @AmberMothling @EvernightPub

Hello, and thanks for having me today! I’m delighted to be bringing you a sneak peek at the second in my Malkin Ridge Shifters series, LIONESS HUNTING. This picks up where WAKINGTHE LIONESS left off – with Lara, Zane, and Tate building a new life together in Malkin Ridge. But I don’t believe in giving my characters an easy life, so there’s a good dose of danger and mystery alongside the sex and romance!

I’m a series writer at heart, and it’s really hard for me to write a stand-alone story, so there’s going to be at least one more Malkin Ridge story in the future. I love revisiting
characters and places, adding to the world, and seeing how it all develops. Hopefully you’ll enjoy seeing my werelion threesome take on their next challenge, and getting to explore some new parts of the Malkin Ridge world. I’ve got a teaser here to whet your appetite! 😉

Lara Carey is settling back into life in Malkin Ridge with her two passionate lovers, Zane and Tate, and she’s keen to prove that she belongs—both back in her old home and in her mates’ bed. When a chance encounter with a teen tiger-shifter reveals the presence of a dangerous predator in town, Lara and her mates are forced to take action. With an innocent life at stake, can they hunt down this monster in time? And when the dust settles, will the trio be stronger for the experience?

Be Warned: menage sex (MMF), public exhibition

Pleased and surprised to see him, she shifted back to her human shape and waited for him. Cool mountain air zipped over her bare skin, caressing her nipples and sending  pleasant shivers through her. Past experience told her the rucksack on Zane’s shoulders would have clothes for her in it, but she wouldn’t be disappointed if he’d forgotten. It had been a very long time since they’d had sex in the great outdoors. And here he was, already
half-naked, with not another soul for miles around.
It was clear he was having similar thoughts. As he got closer, she could smell his arousal, see the feral gleam in his eye. He jogged the last few yards to her and Lara went eagerly to his arms. He crushed her to him in a hungry kiss, his hands traveling down her back to squeeze her ass. He thrust his crotch against hers, silently telling her how ready for her he was.
Love and lust scorched her. The fierce joy of being with him again was showing no sign of wearing off, and his possessive kiss told her he felt the same. She couldn’t let her
doubts rule her, not when the future held so much promise.
Combing her fingers through his hair, she broke the kiss to murmur against his lips. “Good morning.”
He growled as he dragged one finger slowly along the crease of her ass, dipping deliciously close to her hidden entrance. “It could be.”
She pressed closer to him, pushing her breasts hard against his chest. He cupped one obligingly, rubbing his thumb idly over her already taut nipple. Her eyes fluttered  closed and she sighed softly, sinking into sensation.
“Why’d you take off so early?” he asked. “I worried.”
“I couldn’t sleep and I didn’t want to disturb you guys.” She shrugged and slipped her hand down to unzip his jeans. He wasn’t wearing any briefs, so his cock sprang neatly into her hand. Zane groaned as she squeezed it gently. “Did you track me down just to ask that?” she asked.
He fixed a greedy gaze on her, amber eyes burning. “I kind of did,” he said, “but I didn’t count on finding you up here all naked and fuckable.” He grabbed her by the hips, and Lara let out a little squeal as he lifted her up. “For some reason now, I’m finding it hard to focus.”
Lara laughed, offering no resistance as he slung her up over his shoulder in a  fireman’s carry. He smacked her ass as he walked her over to a sturdy pine tree, and the hot ripples of pleasurable pain sent a gush of warmth straight to Lara’s pussy. By the time he set her down again, she was aching to have him inside her. She went for another kiss, but he turned her around and gave her another firm smack.
“Hands against the tree trunk,” he ordered. “I want to see that gorgeous ass while I make you come.”
Shivering with anticipation, Lara obeyed, placing her palms against the rough wood and positioning herself for him, ass up, cunt ready. She closed her eyes as Zane ran his  hands gently over her cheeks. Without warning, he delivered two stinging slaps to each, making her jump and gasp.
“I love that shade of pink you turn.” He slid one hand between her thighs, stroking at her wet pussy. Lara didn’t bother to hide her moans. It was too early for anyone else to be up here, and anyway, there was a rush in knowing they could be seen. She knew Zane liked it too. Hell, sometimes she used to think he wanted to be caught.

Feature Friday ~ Waking the Lioness by Amber Morgan #Shifter #Romance #Menage @AmberMothling @EvernightPub

I love a good story. Sometimes I love the story behind the story even more. I signed the contract for WAKING THE LIONESS back in October 2015, but the plot twist is that this is the second time I’ve signed a contract with Evernight for this story.

Five years ago, I submitted WAKING THE LIONESS to Evernight for one of their anthologies, under a now-defunct pen name. It was accepted, giving me a few firsts: my first title with Evernight, my first erotic paranormal romance, and my first menage story. Huzzahs! I never wrote anything else under that pen name (lack of time more than anything else), but when the rights to WAKING THE LIONESS reverted to me last Autumn, I felt like it it would be a shame to just tuck it away in a virtual box and never do anything with it again.

I gave it a good, critical going-over (five years gives you a lot of time to mentally re-write something, and I must admit, there were a few lines in the original version that made me cringe on-re-reading). I added a bit, changed a bit, and realised it really felt like a story in vein of EXILED ALPHA – strong men, passionate women, and sizzling sex.

So I asked Evernight if they’d like to see the improved version, and they said yes. And then they offered me a brand new contract for it. Huzzahs! So my first release of 2016 is also the re-release of my first story with Evernight – I quite like that symmetry. I can’t wait for you to meet Lara, Zane, and Tate!

Zane turned his fierce gaze on her, the heat in his eyes forcing her back a little. “You left Malkin Ridge for this?” he demanded. “Serving booze and getting hit on by scrawny creeps like him? Jesus, Lara.”

Face burning, Lara grabbed his arm again and dragged him out of Alchemy. The eyes of the entire room were on her. She saw Luc watching with a frown on his face. This wasn’t going to go down well with him—Luc hated trouble in the bar.

Outside, Lara leaned against the wall, running her hands over her hair. If she’d felt hot and sticky before, she was positively boiling now. The last person she’d ever expect to see in New Orleans was Zane. And yet here he was, larger than life and twice as sexy as she remembered. The shock of seeing him doubled by the second. “You…. What are you doing here, Zane?”

He shoved his hands into his jeans pockets, glowering at the cigarette butts littering the pavement. “I didn’t come looking for you, if that’s what you’re worried about.”

Her heart sank, and she scolded herself silently for her disappointment. She’d left Malkin Ridge to get away from Zane, hadn’t she? Away from the whole Malkin Ridge mountain lion community. She should be pleased he wasn’t here for her. Shouldn’t she?

“Then it’s just coincidence you strolled into my bar?” she challenged when he lapsed into silence.

He stared out at the river, face dark and drawn. People pushed past them, and Lara smelled frying onions, lime, and shrimp from the grill next door. The air over the river shimmered, and Zane seemed fascinated by it. For a few long minutes she thought he wouldn’t answer—and how like him that would be—but eventually he sighed heavily and turned back to her.

“I’m looking for someone. A friend. Tate Beckett.” He fumbled in his pockets again and pulled out a battered leather wallet. He flipped it open to show Lara a photo. A golden-haired youth smiled at her from the picture. He had classic mountain lion coloring—blonde, blue-eyed, fair skinned. Very attractive. He probably wasn’t as young as he looked if he was a shapeshifter.

“He’s missing?” she asked. Stupid question, of course. Zane wouldn’t be here looking otherwise. Something about Zane always robbed her of her wits.

“He came down here three weeks ago to visit family and never came back,” Zane confirmed. “He was supposed to be back in Malkin Ridge three days ago. We spoke. He had his flight booked and everything.” He chewed his lip, anxiety marring his handsome features. “I came down here, scouted around, smelled mountain lion…. I didn’t expect it to be you, Lara.”

He looked at her properly for the first time, his eyes softening, scowl relaxing. “It’s good to see you,” he added. He reached for her, brushed a damp lock of hair from her cheek. His fingers barely made contact with her skin but his touch was still electric, sending little lightning bolts dancing over her skin and down between her legs. She shivered.

Banner2aThanks for having me today! I’m delighted to be introducing my new MC romance series, Wild Blood MC, which kicks off with TANNER’S WAR. Fun fact for you – Tanner’s tattoo mentioned in the excerpt below is actually real. My fiance has that exact design on his own forearm. Always great when you can find inspiration right at home!

Tanner nodded, absently rubbing the tattoo on his forearm. It was an ambigram design in heavy gothic script – reading “love” one way up and “hate” the other. It was his newest too, his prison ink. “The guy who came after Beth at the diner was spouting Bible verses and talking about ‘the church.’ And he had this pin on his shirt, like a cross with a snake around it. Beth was running out from Heatherton Farm way.”

“There’s nothing at Heatherton Farm,” Nash said. “Place has been abandoned for years.”

Tanner nodded. At one point the MC had talked about buying the land up and using the old buildings for underground fighting. “Right, but there’s a village close by, isn’t there? Not even a village, more like…”

“A commune,” Judge said, when Tanner couldn’t find the word he wanted.

“Right,” Tanner agreed. “So while I was on the inside, I met this guy – a tattooist.” He tapped his ink again. “He grew up in this commune. I’m sure it’s the same place. He ran away when he was like, fifteen or sixteen. Said the whole community is one of these extreme religious deals, like the Quiverfull Movement and that shit. I can’t remember what he called it, but I bet that’s where Beth’s from.”

“The Church of the Serpentine Cross,” Judge said. He’d straightened up again, expression serious and thoughtful. “They were in the papers a couple years back, remember? Rumors about child brides and shit. Nothing ever came of it.”

Nash nodded slowly. “I remember. Snake-handlers and shit like that. Well, so what? They’re weird, so what? Can’t judge a man for what he believes. And if they really weren’t messing with kids or anything…So what?”

Tanner tried to smother his irritation. “So what if they’re more than just weird? Beth’s scared, man. She ran away with nothing, in a storm like this…Maybe they don’t mess with kids, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t into some dark shit. That guy at the diner, Nathaniel, he was no good. No fucking good at all.”

Nash rested his hands on the table, palms down. In most people it was a gesture of calm, but Tanner knew better. Nash was trying to hide his anger – trying to keep his hands under control. “Look kid,” he said in a tone that was just short of patronizing. “I get it. You see a wounded woman, you go all superhero. I get it. It’s commendable. You’ve got a good heart. But you are six months out of prison and you’re damn lucky to be out at all after what you did. You could have gone away a lot longer. Now you wanna get mixed up in whatever this is? Snake-handling cults and runaways? Don’t do it, Alex. Don’t you fucking dare.”

Spotlight: Through Her Eyes by Amber Morgan #Contemp #RoTG #Suspense @EvernightPub @AmberMothling

Between submitting THROUGH HER EYES for publication and completing the final edits, I found myself reading a lot of true crime books. Lots of stuff on criminal profiling, unsolved cases, and serial killers. It was coincidence, but it was also great timing when the edits came in! I didn’t want to make the story procedural-heavy, but as the hero, Dom, is a police detective, I think I was able to make him a little more real by working in some of the facts I’d picked up. I was also able to flesh out the villain of the story by adding in little behavioural cues based on real-life serial killers. I didn’t want to shoehorn anything in, like “look at me, I read some stuff!!!”, but hopefully the extras I did squeeze in help to build the tension and chills in the story!

Excerpt:

His intentions were fiercely clear when he kissed her.

She gasped into his mouth, thrilled by the heat of his kiss. He knotted one hand in her hair, forcing her head back. At the same time, he backed her against the wall, pinning her in place while he devoured her mouth with his, forceful and almost painfully demanding. She moaned, a mixture of pleasure and pain. His touch, his kiss, his hands… It was all exquisite, but this position – forced against the wall, held firm by a powerful man… It stirred dark memories.

Dom must have sensed her inner turmoil, because he broke the kiss, stepping back with a groan. “Dammit, Keira—”

“I don’t want you to stop,” she said quickly, afraid he’d end things before they’d even begun.

“I’m not bloody stopping.” He gripped her shoulders, pulling her in close. “Believe me, I’m not. But all the times I imagined fucking you, Keira Swanson, I never once imagined doing it in my front room with a half-eaten pizza at our feet.”

She laughed, heart hammering and making her feel bold and reckless. “How did you imagine it?”

“All kinds of ways.” He traced her lips with his finger. “Rough, slow, in silk sheets, in the shower, with blindfolds, strawberries, ice cubes, handcuffs…” He ground against her and nipped her earlobe. Keira shivered in delight, pressing back against him. “Drove myself mad imagining all the things we could do. But pizza boxes were definitely never involved.”

She shivered pleasurably, electricity seeming to zip between her clit and her nipples at his words and his touch. She’d imagined it too – all those scenarios and countless more, and the thought of actually doing it was as surreal as any outer-body experience. It made her fears about initiating intimacy fall away. Dom wanted her. It was plain in every line of his body, in the way he pushed his hips against her, the way he stared at her so hungrily. She didn’t need to wonder how to do this. It would be as natural as breathing.
