“Are ye angry with me because ye think I’m going to pass ye off to another or because ye want more of the pleasure I gave ye last night?”

Beatrice hadn’t the slightest clue how to respond to his question. In fact, she had no idea how to feel at this moment. She desired him, but she wanted so much more than to become a leman. Up until her exile, Beatrice had hoped to one day marry and have children, and no one in the Highlands would have her.

“I’m not sure why I’m angry, if ye must know. I have no idea why I thought giving myself to ye was a good idea.”

“If yer talking about the lad, I had no idea ye still cared for him. If yer worried that I will hand ye off to another, I will not do so unless that is what ye want. And I have no idea where ye seem to think I would have made ye my leman. I do not want one at all. I haven’t got the time to keep mistresses about, but I do have need of a wife.”

Beatrice stilled in his arms. “A wife?”

“Aye, a wife. How do ye suppose I will have heirs? Immaculate conception?”

“I see,” she said, unsure of where this discussion was going to end.

“Right now is not the time to discuss these issues. Even a laird has to take time away from bed to tend to important matters. I will return to the keep, and Giric will escort ye when yer ready.”

“Why must I go? Yer affairs are exactly that. Yers.”

“My affairs also include you, from the moment I made ye mine. So, ye’ll join me at the keep within the hour, and do not keep me waiting.”

Colin lifted her off of him and placed her back on the bed. She watched him dress just as quickly, splash some water on his face, and walk out of the cottage.

Lord, if they didna have the audience outside of the cottage, she’d have yelled at him soundly and remind him that this was her home and not his.

But Lord, how she adored that man and the very body he possessed.

Beatrice left the bed to see what clean water she had left in the pail. Luckily, she had enough to clean herself up and make herself presentable before Colin and Lady McIntyre.

By the time she met Giric outside, a small group of soldiers had joined him.

“Are ye ready, Beatrice?”

“I thought I was only to be accompanied by ye?”

“The laird thought it would be a good idea to have more just in case there were any lingering soldiers loyal to the Sinclair.”

“I see. Well, if we must, then let us be on our way. I canna imagine he’d be happy if I kept him any longer.”

“Just a word of advice, lass. What the laird wants, he usually gets. So ye might not want to incite his anger.” Giric leaned in and whispered, “Unless yer wanting yer backside spanked.”

Excerpt:

Holly had always been one of those people who had been different, who had been more than a little … insane. At least that was what her parents had tried to tell her when they’d dropped her off at the county children’s home. She knew differently, though. She knew she wasn’t crazy. She was actually very intelligent.

They hadn’t sent her away because she was a bad child or a hell-raiser. Overall, she had been very quiet and good, but they hadn’t understood her constant need for mental stimulation, so they shook their heads, then wiped their hands of her.

So, she hadn’t fought her parents’ decision. She hadn’t grumbled or complained. Instead, she’d embraced the solitude and done with it as she pleased. She’d actually lived, and her mind had flourished. Inside of the facility, Holly had found herself in a niche that had longed to be filled. And fill it, she had.

For a number of years, Holly had pretended to fit in with the status quo—she did the studies that she was supposed to do and interacted where she should interact. She had even found herself making friends.

However, she soon discovered that she did better with computers than she did with people. By the time she was a teenager, she’d programmed the computers at the home. She had earned her keep by making sure each and every single thing that was technological was running at the highest peak possible. And if she sometimes got a little lonely, well, she could deal. But that was then and this was now. Now Holly had her own home. She had her own apartment, job, and stability that she hadn’t had before.

She attributed much of her success to the way she had grown up—curious and ready to take on the world. She’d also found that she loved the challenge of breaking into systems, which had led her to one so heavily encrypted she wasn’t sure what was right and what was wrong, or even what it really was.

Giddy glee—that’s what flowed through her as she bypassed system after system. It made her all kinds of happy to finally have a challenge that was worth her time. She all but rubbed her hands together and danced in her seat while pushing the wire-rimmed glasses back on her nose and clipping the long fall of raven’s-wing-black hair back up behind her head. Tomorrow. Tomorrow, I’ll get it cut. The same lie she always told herself.

Tonight, however, oh tonight is a very, very good night. She snickered as she played cat and mouse with the security features built into the firewall of the business she was hacking and chewed her lip while moving through files. She read at a lightning-fast pace, taking in the information in the data banks faster than a Borg assimilated humans in Star Trek. Oh yes, this is some very good stuff indeed.

She stopped at a file that had been one of the two hardest to open and gulped. “What the heck?” she muttered, moving her mouse off the information to make the print larger. I have to be reading it wrong, because there’s no way the dates are correct.

Printing off the data, she leaned back in her chair, kicked her booted feet up onto the metal desk, and frowned. “Methinks I have perhaps fallen into someone’s manuscript.” She had a mile-wide grin on her face. She loved science fiction and paranormal novels. And this one looks like it’s going to be a hell of a read.

Holly scanned through the outlines for each of the heroes of the manuscript, getting sucked in deeper with every turn of the page. “The author did a lot of research on Gaius and Alexander the Great. This is seriously awesome. Too bad they didn’t turn it into a romance, because that’s the best-selling genre out there.” She flipped more, then frowned. “Huh. Wonder who in the world this Mercury character is supposed to be. Maybe he’s going to be the missing link or something like that? It will be interesting to learn just how the author spins this one.”

Quickly pivoting in her chair, she pulled up the Internet space and tossed together a website for “Unknown Author” and the series he or she was writing about, The Guardians, also known as The Guardians of the Light, and became the writer’s number one fan. “Oh, wonder if they have a social media presence?” she asked herself and began to look for any trace of the author via Facebook, Twitter, and even the new site, Tsu. “Huh. Weird. Oh well, likely they want to wait until the first book comes out before they burst onto the scene. I can’t wait.”

About The Author

Having been a lover of the written word all her life April has always wanted to expand her horizons and write something that could be shared with the world. Only one thing held April back, the fact that the letters and numbers mixed and jumbled more often than not. Diagnosed with Dyslexia when she was eight years old April had to work her butt off just to be able to keep up with the other kids in reading and writing, so her love for fictional writing was tossed to the wayside for the moment.

Time marched on, as it always does, and she forgot her childhood dream of becoming an author and instead focused on what she had to – creating a career for herself.

As the endless waves of time passed the shores became less rocky and more sandy, a place where she could find an even foot. That and Microsoft invented Word. Hallelujah.

This is where April began her journey into the written world, the world that her imagination had been ceaselessly creating for her entire adult life.

Now she has been given a chance to let her literary wings unfold and fly, thanks to the amazing publishers with Evernight Publishing and Secret Cravings Publishing.

Now its time to let the dream take flight and watch it soar!

Sunday Snippet ~ Alpha Revealed by Jocelyn Dex #Shifters #PNR #Romance #Giveaway @JocelynDex @EvernightPub

Hi! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my new release!

I have to admit, I was a little worried when writing this story. Why? Well, the hero is older and the heroine is younger. Some people are totally cool with that, but some are not. Also, the hero doesn’t have the typical six-pack abs. Nope. He has a beer belly.  I could have changed either or both of those things, but ultimately, I wrote the story I wanted to write and the characters the way I envisioned them. I hope readers will give the beer-bellied hero a chance!

Alpha Revealed
Fated Foxes, Book 2

Kaylee is a fox shifter and free spirit always on the hunt for her next adventure in fun. When her carelessness puts her in mortal danger, she runs for her life. Just as she almost gives up hope, an unexpected savior in the form of a handsome older man comes to her rescue.
Jeb is a country boy who owns a market in a small town and has a fondness for strays. When he finds an injured fox, he instantly wants to help her. When it seems as though the fox understands his comforting words, he wonders if his mind is playing tricks on him or if there is something special about her.
When Kaylee is forced to reveal her true self, undeniable sparks fly between them even though Jeb tries to keep his lustful urges at bay. But when the danger returns to haunt her and threatens to rip them apart, will they overcome or admit defeat?

Snippet

Kaylee stretched her fox legs and immediately regretted it. The sharp pain in her stomach was like a punch in the face, memories flooding in. She felt the knife sinking into her all over again. What a psycho bastard. Okay, she could totally understand his shock, but to stab her… She sure knew how to pick them.
She tried to get up, but it hurt, the stitches pulling, and she was afraid to pop one. Dammit. She had to pee. Considering she was in a strange man’s bed, she probably ought to be frightened, but she wasn’t. He’d been so kind and caring. As soon as he’d spoken to her, she’d felt in her bones he wouldn’t hurt her. And she couldn’t deny he was pretty hot for an older guy.
She tried again to get up. Crap. She really didn’t want to pee in the man’s bed. How embarrassing and gross. She let out a series of yips and hoped for the best.
There was a scratching at the door and an excited bark. Oh, no. In her experience, dogs weren’t exactly fond of her kind, especially not in shifted form.
“Back, Hobo,” she heard a voice say. He knocked and said, “Comin’ in.”
The door opened slowly. Her body tensed as the dog ran in and jumped on the bed next to her.
“Hobo! No!”
The dog licked her behind the ears and she breathed a sigh of relief when she didn’t sense any aggression.
“Get down. Now,” the man said again in a stern voice as he rushed to her side. The dog hung his head but obeyed and trotted out of the room.
“Sorry about that. He’s used to, uh, your kind. Doesn’t mean any harm. You feelin’ okay? I have some painkillers that should work for ya.”
Why did he keep talking to a fox as if it were human? Not that she minded, but it seemed odd. Maybe he was a bit of a nutcase in addition to being a nice guy. She had more urgent matters to deal with at that moment though, so she whimpered. He had a dog. Surely he would figure out that foxes had to pee too.
He bent over her and inspected her wound. “Looks good. Much better than last night.” He looked her right in the eyes. “Bet you’re hungry. I’ll go get ya a plate.”
She panicked when he turned to leave. Sure, she was hungry, but she had to get to a bathroom. Fast. She whimpered louder this time.
He spun around, concern shone in his eyes. “I’m sorry I don’t speak fox, but if you can shift and talk to me, I’ll do whatever I can to help.”
Her eyes bugged. Did he say “shift”? He knew? He couldn’t. It wasn’t possible. Was it? His scent was human, and he said he didn’t speak fox so what the hell was he talking about?
“Maybe ya can’t shift,” he said more to himself than to her. “I’ll call my friend. He’s like you. He’ll be able to understand.”
He had a shifter friend? Well, that explained it, but she’d never known any shifters who shared their secret with humans. How long would it take the friend to get there? If it was more than sixty seconds, she was definitely going to embarrass herself. When he turned to leave again, she shifted.
“Wait,” she pleaded and tried not to freak that she’d just shifted in the presence of a human. Again.
When he turned back around, his mouth dropped open, his eyes practically bugging out of his head. “Jesus Christ Almighty,” he muttered before covering his eyes with a large hand.

Excerpt

Gregorio was pissed off that he had been called to the mansion, again. He had to get a hold of his men, or the Boss wouldn’t let him take over in the timeframe given to them. It wasn’t because of his fuck up, but one of his underlings. The little bastard was dead now. Greg had personally seen to it. No one got away with stealing from the family, not under his watch. Period. Now if only he could get the Boss to agree that times needed to change and the stakes had to be higher so that their family ran even tighter, because the Russians were trying to move in on their turf and usurp their power. It was up to Gregorio as the Boss’s right hand—and eventual heir—to ensure that they died trying instead of taking over the area that they had carved out for themselves.

When he was let into the Boss’s study, he stood loose in front of the man. Gregorio was armed and ready for anything. “You called?”

“Gregorio, take a seat.” The man didn’t pose it as a question, and Gregorio knew it. It was an order. Once he was sitting, the Boss nodded. “I hear you took care of the mistake.” The Boss sneered as he said the last word, as if it were dirty. “And you made an example?”

“Yes, sir. I did. He’s currently hanging with his hands cut off and his gullet filled with molten silver. His silver-filled body was left on the lawn of the Russian Boss’s home, as per your request. We will need to be more careful with our recruits. How this one passed as Italian, I will never know. It was the theft from the small general store that got him. The girl recalled him speaking Russian as he stole from her. She was injured and in the robbery, she remembered our underling because he had come to collect the protection fee two days earlier.”

Gregorio smiled. It was a smile of pure darkness as he thought of the pain the man suffered. He then tilted his head slightly as he asked the next question. “You let your daughter leave without a guard?” Gregorio changed the subject to one he really wanted to know. That woman had gotten under his skin and had been there since she was sixteen when he saw her naked in the pool house. That was when he was third in the organization. Gregorio killed the second because he was jacking off to Alessandra. Only he was allowed to even think of her in that capacity, and he ensured that every-fucking-one knew it. Even the Boss knew now that Gregorio had declared himself to the man.

“She plays golf with her friends every Thursday. Her guards are with her. Have you learned more of her mugging?”

“I have.” Another reason Gregorio was angry; he was here when he should be tracking the bastards that hurt her. No one hurt her and lived.

“And?” the Boss asked impatiently.

“One of them is sitting in my basement tied to a chair. I was in the middle of discussing respect with the man when you called.”

“It’s more than respect,” the Boss said angrily. “You would do well to remember respect yourself.”

Gregorio had to bite the inside of his cheek. “Yes, Boss. I’m sorry.” He hated those words because it was a reminder of just how much more Gregorio had to learn. Just saying them had him wanting to kill someone.

“That’s better. You have to remember who you are speaking with at all times. Yes, I have been grooming you to take over, but that’s in the near future. In the meantime, you’ve much to learn, things I had to learn the hard way through trial and error and a lot of blood lost.”

“Thank you, sir.” Those words came from his mouth in a near growl. It wasn’t that Gregorio didn’t appreciate what the Boss was doing for him, but the simple fact was that he was impossibly impatient at times.

“Now, what was offered to Tomas to make him turn from his Family?”

“Half million and the promise of a new life. Beyond that, it was the tie to his long lost relative who was a Russian that we didn’t know about.” He shook his head decisively at that statement.

“The Russians are growing bolder. They are searching out long lost Russians in our family’s men and enforcers. Seems as if we need to work on our own genealogy so we can head these off at the pass when possible.”

“They want what we have. They want the docks. They want the refinery and everything else we have. Everything we’ve worked so hard to get.”

“That I worked so hard to get. That my Father worked so hard to get. Don’t forget, Gregorio, you are only being groomed because I didn’t have a son but a daughter. One that I would kill for and one that will never know the reality of her life.”

Greg knew the truth though. The old man had twin sons that were older than Alessandra, but they were born from his whore so they would never hold any sort of position of power inside of the organization.

“I agree. She’ll never know the truth of this life. Not as long as I live. That’s my blood vow to you, Boss.” He would give it too, his blood to keep Alessandra safe, to keep her pure and to keep her out of this life.

He was going to say something else when the doors opened. Gregorio was on his feet with his weapon drawn on reflex.

The man who stood in the doors literally pissed his pants. “I’m sorry, Boss, but we got a note you have to read.”

“Bring it.”

Gregorio holstered his weapon and watched. He was curious about what would have anyone daring to open the door when he and the Boss were in a conference. No one but Alessandra dared do such a thing. She would breeze in when they were planning war and not realize what she walked in on.

When the Boss stood fast enough to send his chair flying behind him, Gregorio knew it had to involve Alessandra. She was the only one that would garner that sort of reaction in the man. “Those fucking bastards!” The Boss yelled out his frustration. “Get everyone here.” He looked at Gregorio. “Someone took Alessandra. Took her in the middle of a crowded lunch at the Country Club.”

Gregorio saw red. He shook in his fury. “Who?” He spoke to the man that brought the note. “Where are her guards?”

“They were found in their cars, both with holes in their foreheads. Whoever did this made it personal. They wanted these men to see who killed them.”

“Boss?” Gregorio waited for his orders to find the woman that held both of their hearts.

“Go. Find her. Take her to safety. I’m done with these Russian bastards on our turf.”

“You calling a war?”

“They did when they took her,” the Boss said as he pulled his weapons from his desk.

If you know what’s good for you, you’ll go back to Dallas.Since coming home Sutton has inherited herself a heap of headaches, two bossy
men who want her for their own, threatening notes, and a whole lot of trouble
in Paradise.

Having Doc McNab as competition, being ten years Sutton’s senior, and under her
employ, meant the deck was stacked against Flint Palmer when it came to winning
the sexy, vivacious Sutton as his woman. No way would she be interested in an
old, worn-out, ex-rodeo cowboy like him, but that wasn’t going to stop the man
from trying.

With the exception of the pretty as a picture, Sutton Callaway, Kale McNab’s
childhood sucked. He’d been jerked up more so than raised by his ex-convict of
a father, eventually leaving the girl and West Texas behind. Now, he’s all
grown and back in Sutton’s life, willing to do whatever it takes to stay there.

What do readers have to say about Trouble in Paradise?

5 sexy stars!! Whoo I may need to be hosed down after reading this sexy, sexy book!! Melissa –Amazon

Whoo! What a twisting turning, one hell of a cliff hanger, roller coaster ride that was. –Cutting Muse Blog Review

It’s a must read book. Shelly – Goodreads

Excerpt:
Kale McNab  (a.k.a. the devil) chuckled then ran his fingers through the strands of his brown-sugar-colored hair, mussing them as he eyed her chest. “Nice shirt, cowgirl.”
“Right. Don’t you really mean nice tits?”
“That, too,” he said, lifting his gaze up to her face. A second later, he glanced over to her truck. “What happened?”
“I was trying to find out when you interrupted me.”
“By all means,” he said, gesturing with his arm out in a cheesy game-show host kind of way. “Don’t let me stop you. Commence with the show.”
His gaze raked her from head to toe and back again.
Sutton’s eyes narrowed. “What?”
He locked gazes with her. “You know. All that jiggling about and hand waving you were doing was
cute.”
“Jiggling about?” She lifted her chin and set her shoulders. “Cute?” she asked, piqued.
“Yeah,” he said, strolling past her to peek over the front of her pick-up. “Do you know anything
about motors?”
“No.”
“So why look under the hood?”
Ugh. Even after all these years, the guy was just as infuriating as he was when he
was a boy tormenting her on their bus rides to and from school.
With nothing else to do, because she wasn’t going to answer him, Sutton observed Kale poke
around under the hood, seeing the cords flex in his tanned forearms. Why, oh why, did the devil need to wear muscle-hugging T-shirts and worn button fly blue jeans?
A second later, he shook his head. “Sutton. Looks like your engine is shot to shit.” He returned his attention to her with those green eyes of his. “You better call Tucker to come tow it since”—He patted the top of the front wheel well—“this old Ford isn’t going anywhere without one.”
“Dang it.” She spun around.
“Where ya headed?” he asked.
“Back inside the hardware store to have them unload the bed of the truck and to call Macinroy.”
Kale caught up to her and kept pace. “Has anyone ever told you you’re sexy as hell when you’re
ticked?”
She slowed.
He followed suit.
Sutton stopped.
So did he.
She turned to gawk at him.
Kale met her gaze. “You have the greenest eyes. They remind me of expensive jewels.”
“You can’t be serious,” she said.
His lips quirked up at the corners while he stood there oozing confidence and dangerous bad boy
charm. “I assure you. I’m always serious when it comes to sexy women.”
She rolled those “jewels” of hers at him. “How is that working out for you?”
“Hm?”
“This whole slicker’n owl shit thing you have going on,” she said, making an air circle
with her hand in front of him. “Do women really fall for your line of crap?”
He chuckled. “Crap, huh?”
“Kale, you’re so full of it, I’m surprised your eyes aren’t brown.”
“Hell, Sutton.” He reached out and swiped a stray lock of hair from her sweaty face—his
knuckles briefly brushing against her damp neck. “You really do know how to cut a notch in a guy’s ego.”
“I’m sure your ego can handle having a notch or two whittled away.” She resumed her trek to
the front doors of the store. For some reason, which eluded her, Kale kept pace. “Why are you following me?”
“Darlin’,” he said in a pitying, you-poor-clueless-little-thing manner which made her grit her teeth. “I was on my way to your ranch, but I saw you jumping and waving around at the front of your truck, so I thought I’d pull in here and see if I could lend a hand.”

About London:

I love: Coca-Cola, anything chocolate, reading, writing, singing, dancing, movies, listening to thunder storms, watching it rain, the mountains, the ocean, orchids, great smiles, and guys with brooding eyes and great scowls.

So, I write erotic romance (mostly) although I have one or two sweet romances bopping around out there in the great big world of published books. If you want to know more about them, you can pop on over to my website.

If you want to know a little bit more about me, you can find me on social media, you know, Facebook, Twitter and such. Oh, and you are cordially invited to come join my FB group Slip Between the Pages with London where you can ask me about any of my books, or if you just want to talk about something random such as the best way to make a horrible meatloaf, I’m your girl. *Smiles* We have a lot of fun in that group. *Whispers conspiratorially* Sometimes we spike the punch. Shh…Don’t tell.

Tessa’s life beneath the strict rules of her parents’ cultish church leaves her longing for independence. Her boring, small-town checkout lane job barely covers the bills, let alone fulfill her wants and desires.

Until the weekly visits of god-like Trent and Brody have her dreaming of a Tessa sandwich with both sensual men as her bread.

Fantasies may be a pastime of the wicked, but when Trent asks her on a date—with both him and Brody—Tessa decides to take a chance, knowing the purity of her soul is at stake. Will these two men be her ticket to freedom – or her one way trip to eternal damnation?

Excerpt

Towel wrapped around me, I peeked out the bathroom door into Trent’s dimly lit bedroom. A T-shirt and shorts lay on his massive, king-sized bed.

I tugged the shorts up my damp legs, but couldn’t get them over my bum. More tears pricked as I cursed my too-much body. Trent’s shirt hung to the middle of my thighs. It would have to do.

Trent lounged beside the blazing fire pit. The sound of trickling water drew my attention to the right. Brody stood beneath the outdoor shower, his round, bite-able backside flooding my mouth with drool.

Tearing my gaze off him, I ambled over toward Trent. He patted the couch beside him, and taking care not to reveal my too-much, naked bottom half, I settled on the cushion and allowed myself another peek at Brody.

“Hot, isn’t he?”

Trent’s low, murmured words whipped my head around. “What?”

“Brody.” He continued to stare at his friend, a smirk on his lips, lust in his eyes. “Just look at that ass.”

Unable to help myself, I did as told while trying to wrap my mind around what Trent had said—and the unmistakable desire in his gaze.

“What do you think, Tessa?”

I swallowed and laced my fingers together in my lap. “I think he’s beautiful.”

Trent made a sound of appreciation in his throat as Brody turned, closed his eyes, and tipped his head back, running his hands through his hair.

My focus zoned in on his long, flaccid penis. Cock, my whore-mind whispered. I laced my fingers tighter and forced my attention on Trent.

He met my gaze and grinned. “Quite the temptation, isn’t he?”

“Enough to make me burn in hell,” I admitted with a whisper.
