Spotlight: Tanner’s War by Amber Morgan #WildBloodMC #Erotic #Suspense @AmberMothling

Banner2aThanks for having me today! I’m delighted to be introducing my new MC romance series, Wild Blood MC, which kicks off with TANNER’S WAR. I had a lot of fun writing this story, and probably just as much fun researching it…And by research I mean looking at pictures of sexy, tattooed bikers on Pinterest…That counts, right? Fun fact for you – Tanner’s tattoo mentioned in the excerpt below is actually real. My fiance has that exact design on his own forearm. Always great when you can find inspiration right at home!

Tanner nodded, absently rubbing the tattoo on his forearm. It was an ambigram design in heavy gothic script – reading “love” one way up and “hate” the other. It was his newest too, his prison ink. “The guy who came after Beth at the diner was spouting Bible verses and talking about ‘the church.’ And he had this pin on his shirt, like a cross with a snake around it. Beth was running out from Heatherton Farm way.”

“There’s nothing at Heatherton Farm,” Nash said. “Place has been abandoned for years.”

Tanner nodded. At one point the MC had talked about buying the land up and using the old buildings for underground fighting. “Right, but there’s a village close by, isn’t there? Not even a village, more like…”

“A commune,” Judge said, when Tanner couldn’t find the word he wanted.

“Right,” Tanner agreed. “So while I was on the inside, I met this guy – a tattooist.” He tapped his ink again. “He grew up in this commune. I’m sure it’s the same place. He ran away when he was like, fifteen or sixteen. Said the whole community is one of these extreme religious deals, like the Quiverfull Movement and that shit. I can’t remember what he called it, but I bet that’s where Beth’s from.”

“The Church of the Serpentine Cross,” Judge said. He’d straightened up again, expression serious and thoughtful. “They were in the papers a couple years back, remember? Rumors about child brides and shit. Nothing ever came of it.”

Nash nodded slowly. “I remember. Snake-handlers and shit like that. Well, so what? They’re weird, so what? Can’t judge a man for what he believes. And if they really weren’t messing with kids or anything…So what?”

Tanner tried to smother his irritation. “So what if they’re more than just weird? Beth’s scared, man. She ran away with nothing, in a storm like this…Maybe they don’t mess with kids, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t into some dark shit. That guy at the diner, Nathaniel, he was no good. No fucking good at all.”

Nash rested his hands on the table, palms down. In most people it was a gesture of calm, but Tanner knew better. Nash was trying to hide his anger – trying to keep his hands under control. “Look kid,” he said in a tone that was just short of patronizing. “I get it. You see a wounded woman, you go all superhero. I get it. It’s commendable. You’ve got a good heart. But you are six months out of prison and you’re damn lucky to be out at all after what you did. You could have gone away a lot longer. Now you wanna get mixed up in whatever this is? Snake-handling cults and runaways? Don’t do it, Alex. Don’t you fucking dare.”

Nikki slumped with her back against the closed front door. To say she was relieved to see Viper leave was an understatement. Again her hormones reacted to him. Why they had to come to life after three years, she had no idea. And even worse yet, for her best friend’s new brother-in-law. The situation had disaster written all over
it. Even if her fear would allow her to make a move on the unsuspecting man,
her conscience wouldn’t. As he had pointed out, they were now family. And she
couldn’t risk Gabby’s happiness by throwing herself at Viper. It would lead to
uncomfortable family gatherings.

Pushing herself off the door, she attempted to eject her sexy rainbow-colored angel out of her mind as she went about getting herself ready for bed. By the time she was snuggled under the blankets, she was exhausted. Half an hour later, sleep still refused
her. Her body needed something—something she knew B.O.B. could provide.

Reaching across to her bedside table drawer, she pulled out her purple vibrator. This silicone cock had been the only form of male company her body had allowed over these last three years. And he never disappointed her, except when he ran out of
batteries.

Throwing the blankets back, she quickly removed her pajamas. The cool air hit her sensitive nipples, causing them to harden further. They were begging to be teased. Her hand molded around her tiny breast, roughly massaging it. The harsh manhandling had more juices leaking from her already flowing pussy. Her thumb and index finger found her pebbled nipple, pinching it hard.

A groan escaped her as her hips lifted from the mattress, seeking out its partner. The hand that held B.O.B. travelled lower. B.O.B.’s head circled her hypersensitive clit.
Electricity raced through her whole being, enticing her orgasm closer to the surface.

As if on its own accord, B.O.B. found her entrance. Scooping up some of her escaped juices, it slowly entered her. Each thrust took her higher, but still it wasn’t enough to take her over the edge. Suddenly Viper’s image popped into her mind. No longer were her fingers pinching and pulling at her nipples. Instead, his mouth had
engulfed her breasts, his teeth worrying her nipples and sending shock waves
throughout her whole being. As for B.O.B., he had been replaced as well. Viper
was carrying her body to the heavens, and she welcomed it. Her imagination took
the fantasy further.

Her legs widened, allowing room for Viper’s large body. The thrusts were coming harder and faster. Her orgasm quickly approached, catapulting her over the edge. Still Viper’s body continued to drive into her. Suddenly he pulled out and turned
her. With her head on the mattress and her backside in the air, he slammed back
into her. At this angle it was enough to encourage another orgasm to make
itself known. It danced around the edges, avoiding her pleas for completion.
More punishing thrusts were delivered from behind. Then it came, a command her
body seemed to be waiting for.

“Come for me, sweetheart.”

Light burst behind her closed eyelids right before she screamed her completion. As she tumbled back to earth she felt tears falling from her eyes. Her head was turned to the side, allowing the sheet and mattress to absorb them. It was then that she
realized how uncomfortable she was. True to her fantasy, her backside was in
the air, while her head rested upon the bed. One arm held her balanced while
the other one was under her body. Her hand was between her legs, holding B.O.B.
in her pussy.

As she went about cleaning B.O.B and remaking her bed she expected embarrassment to consume her. It never came. In its place was confusion. How could that fantasy have felt so real? In her mind, she felt his body against hers. Never before had any of her masturbating sessions felt like that.

The man she was trying to view as family had somehow accomplished the impossible. In her mind, he had truly been with her in this bed. Yet the fear that usually accompanied the idea of being sexually involved with a male was absent. How was that possible? Why was he having such an effect on her?

This man with his brightly painted skin and rusty red hair had her craving things she didn’t think were possible to ever want again—a sexual relationship. His messy locks
with their just-out-of-bed look called to her fingers. They desperately wanted
to delve into his thick mass of hair. His plump, kissable lips had her mouth
watering and her chin itching. In her mind she could see the stubble rash that
would appear after a kiss from her new fantasy go-to guy. How was she ever
going to look at that man again without blushing?

She was glad that she didn’t have to see him every day. Otherwise she suspected her rampant hormones would have her doing something impetuous. With her hormones in overdrive she knew it wouldn’t be long before she threw herself at this man who was only being friendly with her because of Gabby’s relationship with Devil. She needed to minimize her exposure to Viper. It was the only way she wouldn’t embarrass Gabby and herself.

Q & A with Wren Michaels about Vexed #Paranormal #Romance #Vodou @AuthorWren @EvernightPub

Thanks for sharing in the release of my first full-length novel! I hope you enjoy reading about Kena and Luc as much as I enjoyed writing them. There’s plenty of action, adventure, romance, and Vodou for everyone!

VEXED-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2015-banner3

I did a little Q&A about the book:

Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
Originally the story was going to be completely different when I wrote the first 5000 words or so of the book. But after I came back from the 2014 Romantic Times convention in New Orleans, I was inspired to write something with a Vodou/NOLA flair. So the book took a twist and became so much more than I ever imagined. I wanted a strong heroine and an alpha male. But Luc ended up being more of an Alpha/Beta blend. He’s not really one or the other. He’s quite complex. Kena ended up being a witty heroine who took things into her own hands.

Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
Music is my biggest influence. I listened to mainly instrumental gaming soundtracks while writing. But one of my Critique Partners burned me a CD of music she thought would be perfect for this book, and it was filled with great songs by The Black Keys, Rolling Stones, Zepplin, Jack White and Muse. It ended up really making scenes come alive for me.

Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
In this book I tried to make the characters reflect their Vodou based deities. I did take some artistic liberties and spun a few things, but I did a lot of research to make sure a lot of the intricacies of their actual descriptions and quirks made it into the story.

VEXED-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2015-finalimagesVodou stole her life. A gay ghost stole her boots. And the man who stole her heart stole her memories. Kena plans to get it all back.

Ex-cop Kena’s life is filled with regret, beer, and Cheetos. That is, until her ghostly roomie sends her dumpster diving, leading her to a sexy stranger named Luc and a fate she’d rather not remember. As Kena’s memories resurface, so do her feelings for Luc, the man she’s secretly been in love with for the last thousand years. And he needs her for more than a stroll down memory lane.

Vodou spirits, known as Loa, have been trapped in human form, and are trying to make their way back to the spirit world. But Luc’s brother is possessed by a vengeance demon conjured at the hands of NOLA’s crime syndicate kingpin. Saving him means damning herself to a spirit prison in a loveless, arranged union with the very man she’s supposed to rescue. But not helping Luc’s brother sentences him to death, leaving New Orleans in the hands of black magick, and losing Luc forever.

excerptCHANGEOFHEART

After stripping out of the wet clothes, I wrapped the towel around myself and wandered out to his room. On the bed lay a white long-sleeve button-down shirt. With a hard swallow, I dropped the towel and picked up the shirt, pulling it to my face. I took a long, hard sniff. Laundry detergent. Of course. Did I think it would smell like him?

Like he’d give you a dirty shirt to wear, Kena.

Thankful he didn’t witness me in idiot-mode, I slid myself into the shirt and was caught mid-button when he knocked at the door.

“Are you decent?” He pushed the door open a crack.

“I’m clothed, if that’s what you mean. Decent is debatable at the moment.” Purposely leaving the top three buttons undone, I worked my way to the bottom button as he walked in.

He halted mid-stride and looked at me. His chest rose and fell in quick spurts, training his eyes over me from head to toe. Veins traversed the length of his arm as he clenched his fists at his sides. “I don’t wear underwear, so I apologize I have no bottoms. It’s all I had that was long enough to cover you.” His position relaxed as he leaned against the mahogany armoire.

“Anything’s better than cold, sopping-wet clothes.” I ran a finger through my hair, now slowly drying into loose stringy curls.

“So, are you going to tell me what happened tonight?” Folding his arms across his broad chest, bulging muscles stretched the navy-blue fabric barely covering his biceps.

I shook my head. “Not until I get some honesty from you, big guy.”

With a tilt of his head, he donned a sly grin. “You haven’t asked the right questions.”

“Is this a game for you? Do you enjoy messing with people’s lives? Do you get off on some fucked-up high being in total control?” My fingernails burrowed into the palm of my hand. Everything in me wanted to slap the shit out of him and then ride him like a cowboy.

He pushed off the dresser and walked over to me, lowering his head coming to a stop inches from my face. “You’re the one in control and yet you refuse to acknowledge it. You refuse to let your mind accept it. Stop playing and start being.”

“What do you want from me?” I yelled, a little louder than intended.

“I want you to be you. I want you to”—he stopped and dropped his gaze to my lips, and then slowly made his way back up to my eyes—“come back.”

“Kiss me.” The words rushed from my lips without another thought. My heart hammered so hard in my chest I thought it would shatter my rib cage.

His breathing quickened. A low growl rumbled in his throat. “Don’t do this to me, Kena.”

“Don’t do what? You’re the one doing things to me.” I slammed my hands against his chest and he sailed across the room, his back hitting the dresser behind him. “Shit! I’m sorry.” I reached out for him with a trembling hand.

Fuck, I’d done it again.

He shook his head and straightened himself up. In a blur of movement, he shot across the room and grabbed onto either side of my shirt, yanking me up to his face. “You want me to kiss you?”

“Yes,” I said in more of whooshing sound than a word.

He pressed his lips against my neck and his fingers curled into the fabric of the shirt, pulling me onto my tiptoes. “You don’t even know who I am.”

“I don’t care.” Words no longer made sense to me, only his touch spoke a language I could understand.

He laughed as he pushed me against the wall. Gripping the back of my head with the entire palm of his hand, he splayed the other across my cheek, his thumb resting against my jawline. Tilting my head back, he hovered his lips over mine. “You will.”

His lips crushed against my mouth.

With a sweep of his tongue, he devoured me into a kiss the likes of which I’ve never experienced before in my life. He punished my mouth with his tongue, sliding it over mine in a delicious dance of ecstasy and aggression. His hold on me was not that of violence, but of passion. The way his fingertips eased against my face, yet held me there as if he was scared to let go, revealed a vulnerability. He may be a man of few words who knew how to play the vague card, but his body and actions gave him away.

I arched into him, and he pinned me back against the wall with his hip. Clawing at his shirt, I ripped it out of his jeans and slid my fingers over his heated skin. A surge of energy rushed my fingertips as they glided along his body, electrifying me.

“Fuck, Kena,” he hissed, pulling back from the kiss.

In a movement so fast it blurred everything around me, he shot out the door, slamming it behind him. He left me gasping, clinging to the wall behind me just to remain standing. My legs wobbled like Jell-O as I stumbled to the bed and collapsed. He sucked all the air from my body and replaced it with an ache, a driving need for more of him.

What the hell was he?

Challenge Accepted By Annabeth Leong (@annabethleong) #BDSM #Excerpt @CW1985

AL_ChallengeAccepted_coverlgBlurb:
After being shamed for her dominant desires too many times, Christine has resolved never to date a vanilla man again. She needs a man who knows he’s submissive, and she’s determined to hold out until she finds one.

Until she meets Sam, that is. Christine can’t bring herself to turn down the handsome parkour aficionado, so instead she tries to scare him off with an intensely kinky first date.

When Sam meets her extreme challenges head-on, Christine must decide if he can become the man to serve her every need—in the bedroom, and in her life.

Warnings: m/f anal play; BDSM content includes impact play, foot worship, dominance and submission, clamps placed in fairly extreme locations, and implied piercings.

Excerpt:
Even seeing only her back, Sam had no trouble recognizing Christine as he carried a sack of dirty clothes into the basement laundry room of his new apartment building. He’d liked her tall, thick frame the moment he’d caught her watching him, and he liked the way she moved. She folded clothes with sure, clean gestures. He’d been an athlete for enough of his life that he could immediately spot a woman in full control of her body and presence.

He hefted the laundry onto his shoulder and assumed a casual stance. He made his movements feel easy so they would look easy. “Christine.”

She turned. He liked that she didn’t jump. Maybe she knew he was coming.

He saw her reacting to him—gaze flicking down his body, body shifting to emphasize her hip. Her eyes were fierce, not welcoming. She looked as if she might be about to set him on fire. Apart from that, though, her nod was polite and distant.

Stretching and making a show of it, he set the laundry down beside a free machine. He didn’t know what to think of the contradictions he read in her body language. He was intrigued and wanted to get to know her. She, on the other hand, wasn’t being clear about what she wanted. He couldn’t tell if she was hoping he’d strike up a conversation or wishing he’d drop his clothes into the wash and get the hell out.

Sam had been raised in the type of family that communicated in code, and he didn’t like it. The only way he knew to make sense of the world was to speak his mind. “You up for company?”

She hesitated. “I think so,” she said finally.

“I’m glad.” His voice came out softer than he’d intended, his tone deferent.

There was something about Christine that made him want to address her that way. He stole glances as he started a washer. She dressed professionally, but not in an imposing way. Her body looked strong, but her shoulders were relaxed, her face at ease. She didn’t loom or intimidate, though he imagined she could if she wanted to. She had big, dark eyes and rich, brown skin. Her features weren’t delicate—he liked the bold lines of her nose and jaw—but neither were they harsh. The only hint of real severity he could see was in the way she wore her hair—straightened to within an inch of its life and sharply restrained.

“The weather’s gotten nice,” Sam said, reaching for an easy conversation starter. “Anything you’re looking forward to doing now?”

Christine shrugged. “Not wearing a heavy jacket.” Was that a touch of humor in the curve of her lips? He wasn’t sure.

“Definitely.” Sam kept his voice light. “You recognized parkour. Is that your sport?”

She laughed. “Afraid not.” Sam wondered if she was warming to him, but she was still so difficult to read. He hated the idea of lingering where he wasn’t wanted.

“Look,” he said. “I’d like to get to know you. I’d like to take you out sometime. Are you interested?” He had a nice Italian restaurant in mind if she said yes. If she said no, he’d ignore the flickers of interest he kept feeling from her.

She didn’t agree or refuse, though. Instead, she looked pained. “Why would you ask me that? We’ve got nothing in common.”

Sam stepped back, holding up his hands. “I asked because I wanted to know your answer,” he said, the words low and even. “If you’re not, it’s cool. I won’t bother you about it.” He’d be disappointed, of course, but he wasn’t the kind of jerk who would try to make a woman feel guilty about turning him down.

Christine reached toward him but dropped her arm just before she made contact. “You couldn’t handle me.”

Sam probably should have walked away at that point, but he’d noticed the way she’d almost touched him and the stubborn part of him couldn’t let the challenge pass. “What do you mean, I couldn’t handle you?”

Familiar anger rose to his chest. In high school, everyone had assumed he was a nerd because he was Chinese. He’d been told he wouldn’t be able to handle being on the football team, wouldn’t be able to handle American-style boxing—though everyone also seemed to expect him to be an expert at Wing Chun—and wouldn’t be able to handle going with the other guys on the team to play pranks on the local rivals.

Sam had responded to each of those challenges by proving his doubters wrong, doing everything better and harder than the people who had questioned him. He’d given up on obligatory popular sports to focus on parkour, but there was still a part of him that thrilled each time he pulled off a difficult move, exulting that, yet again, he’d shown them.

Christine’s skin darkened with a blush, but she lifted her chin defiantly. “I’m kinky, okay? I doubt you’re ready for that.”

Sam blinked. “Wow, okay. That seems like something we could sort out after we go on a date and find out if we like each other. No need to jump ahead.”

“No point.” She shook her head, the gesture firm and dismissive. “It’s a waste of time to get to know each other if we’re just going to wind up incompatible.”

“Really?” Sam bristled. It irritated him when women assumed a Chinese guy wouldn’t know anything about sex, and he hoped that wasn’t what was going on. “I have heard about that book, you know. The one all the women are reading.”

“No, that’s not what I’m talking about. I like to be the one on the handle end of the flogger. You don’t want it, trust me.”

Sam had almost no idea what that entailed, but he pressed, annoyed that she’d presumed to tell him what he would and wouldn’t want. “How do you know? Talk to me about it first. Try me.”

“If you don’t already know about it, it’s just not going to work. I promise.”

Sam had never been aware of an interest in kink, but he couldn’t stand assumptions. “Tell me straight-out what you want to do,” he said, crossing his arms over his chest. “I’ll tell you whether or not I want to do it.”

Christine stared as if he’d suggested a really strange plan. It reminded Sam of so many movies he’d seen, times when characters acted like telling the truth was such an odd and original thing to come up with. “I don’t know…” she said.

He grabbed his now-empty laundry bag. The fabric snapped as he yanked it through the air. The fresh, warm scent pouring from the dryers seemed sour in that moment. “Or turn me down. Just don’t tell me what I can and can’t handle.”

Again, she moved as if she wanted to take hold of his wrist and stop him. Sam paused, trying to make it clear he would let her if that was what she wanted to do. They were still for a while, and then he gave up and walked to the door.

“Wait,” Christine said before he could leave.

“Yeah?”

“Maybe. Do you use IM? Can we talk later?”

He shrugged. “Sure.” This was probably another part of the brush-off. Maybe she thought it would be nicer if she offered to chat online. He didn’t particularly like that tactic, but he didn’t feel like criticizing it now. Without expecting to hear from her again, he gave her his username.

Excerpt:

Tessa laughed as she pulled him toward the Twirling Teacups.

Rick groaned and asked, “You know they’re gonna take away my man card, right? I just have to give it to the guy taking the tickets.”

C’mon,” she said, nudging him. “We can’t come to Centreville and not ride the teacups!”

She tried not to laugh as he made a big production out of it. He counted the tickets, then looked at the ride. Then he looked back at her and asked, “I can drive, right?”

Deadpan, she said, “I thought I would drive.”

He raised his eyebrow but said nothing. The slight smirk on his face spoke volumes though. It clearly said, “There is no way I’m letting a chick drive me around in a teacup.”

Fine. You can drive.”

Rick grinned and handed the tickets to the ticket collector, who clearly overheard her complaint if the smirk on his face was any indication. He just pointed and said, “You folks can have the pink one on the right.”

Tessa laughed and said, “Oh good. My favorite color.”

Rick said nothing, though his look promised retribution. He merely slid into the tea cup and patted the bench next to him.

When she was seated next to him, her thigh brushed against his.

His tone conversational, he said, “So, this is the most emasculating first date I’ve ever had. This is a record.”

So, I guess that means no carousel?” Tessa teased, as the music started up and the ride began to slowly move.

In answer, he grinned and then spun the wheel so she swayed into his chest. She started to right herself, but Rick put a halt to that when he wrapped an arm around her. Most of her upper body was now pressed against his chest.

The look on Rick’s face was a mixture of both amusement and desire. As they continued to spin, neither of them manning the wheel, his smile faded. With a look of concentration, he slowly closed the distance between their mouths.

Tessa stretched up, pressing her lips against his. At the first brush of her lips against his, she felt a jolt of awareness run through her. When his hand came up to cradle her cheek, she let out a soft sigh of pleasure. He took the opportunity to deepen the kiss, his tongue exploring her mouth, twining with hers.

She couldn’t stop the soft moan that rose from the back of her throat as his hands cruised lazily along her hips and back. Even through the layers of her sundress and the thin cotton sweater she wore, she could feel the heat of his hands on her body.

His hands moved to tangle in her hair as he gentled the kiss. But instead of backing away as she expected, Rick began to nibble at her jaw and then trace a path down the side of her throat with his tongue.

Tessa could do nothing but tilt her neck and enjoy the sensations as he swirled and nipped at her. Her arousal grew with every hot, open mouthed kiss he placed against her sensitive neck. It was clear he knew exactly what he was doing.

About Me:

Michelle Roth is a novelist from the Great White North (Toronto, ON). When she’s not disappearing into foreign lands, or making two perfect strangers that she invented fall in love, she’s probably curled up somewhere with a glass of wine and a good book.

In her spare time she is typically hanging out with her awesome boyfriend and their two equally awesome cats. She likes taking road trips to nowhere in particular, cooking elaborate meals then making other people do the dishes, and being nerdy on the internet. Her books are currently available on Amazon, Nook, Kobo, and any other place that sells absolutely filthy romance novels.

Come and Get Your Love by Tina Donahue #RomCom #Contemp #Cowboy @TinaDonahue

A Texas rancher, an Atlanta debutante, a will, and a fake marriage. Erotic Contemporary – Romantic Comedy – Let the fun begin!

kw_book_sleeve_blueBlurb:

Their desire wasn’t supposed to be real…

With millions willed to her in an incentive trust, Lissa can get the dough to start her own country music label when she meets one of the no-contest clauses. Namely, reach middle age in twenty years, work in the hated family business for a decade, or marry someone not in the music biz.

Marriage it is, at least for a year to satisfy her greedy brother who wants the inheritance.

Enter Cass, a hot Texas rancher who dampens Lissa’s panties. With a pile of medical bills from his brother’s accident, Cass agrees to wed Lissa. She’s sweet to look at, surprisingly pleasant for an Atlanta debutante, and makes his jeans feel tight as hell despite their no-sex contract.

Uh-huh. The devil’s in the details. Longing gazes turn to tender intimacy and wild nights with pretend feeling all too real.

Damn shame it may be too late with her brother gunning for them both.

Teaser Four

Excerpt:

Cass had expected to be somewhat jittery today, but his anger with Willy was still fresh enough to have calmed his nerves, though not his thoughts. As the Wedding March swept through the gigantic space, Cass wondered if Willy would say or do something to hurt Lissa.

I’ll pound you into the ground if you try.

It’d be more entertainment for the six hundred or so guests.

They oohed, then ahhed at the ringbearer who tripped, the flower girl who wet her panties halfway down the aisle, and a dozen bridesmaids dressed in filmy lavender gowns who grinned as if their lives depended on it. So much for having a small affair. Marvella and the rest of the bridesmaids had walked slowly, each of them taking Cass in as if he were on the auction block. Some of them eyed him so much they made this the longest damn wedding he’d ever suffered through.

Patty must have thought the same. She hung on to one of the chairs while her gaze whizzed around the room decorated with more flowers than a Texas politician’s funeral.

Cass would have given a few years of his life for some fresh air and a faster pace to these proceedings. After what seemed like hours, it was time for the main event. A hush fell over the guests as Willy stepped into view. Cass glared at the man, warning him to be nice or risk death.

Curling his upper lip, Willy held out his arm for Lissa.

A moment passed, then another, and still more with her nowhere in sight. She couldn’t have changed her—

No, wait. There she was.

Cass lost every bit of air in his lungs. Dear Lord, her hair was beyond glorious, curling this way and that, free and loose just as he’d wanted. Thank you, sweetheart.

He couldn’t look at her dress enough. White as a cloud, it sparkled each time she breathed, the neck dipping low enough to show the gentle swell of her sweet little breasts. From where Cass stood, it looked as if she hadn’t worn a bra. Good girl.

Although Lissa’s veil hung over her face, he could see that her gaze was down as Willy delivered her to his side…for safekeeping and a lifetime of what should have been love. Cass took her hand gently in his, surprised at how icy her fingers were.

Lissa lifted her face.

At that moment, Cass knew he wanted her completely, mindlessly, passionately; hell, he might even be falling in love. This was a woman he ached to share time with—all the good, even the bad—didn’t matter.

Her expression softened; it yearned as much as his.

Cass smiled.

Uncertainty, then something he couldn’t read passed over her face. She turned away.

His stomach fell. He wanted to ask what had just happened, what the problem might be, besides this nutty wedding. He needed to know if she’d ever want him as her real husband or even for a couple dates, but couldn’t get into that now. The minister had already started.

His words sounded cold, no different from the contract Cass and Lissa had signed. How careful they’d been, spelling everything out, except what they should do about a wayward heart.

Cass’ beat out of control, yet he said his vows in a surprisingly strong voice and then eased his mother’s ring onto Lissa’s finger, warming her hand with his own.

When it was her turn, she claimed that she’d love him for all time, then slipped a gold band onto his finger. A warning to the world that he belonged to her now.

As crazy as it was, Cass suddenly wanted that.

The ceremony continued, for days it seemed. He felt as if he’d been doing this all of his life. Finally though, the minister shut up for a few seconds, broke into a broad smile, and said, “You may now kiss your bride.”

What remarkable words those were, filled with such beauty and promise. With great care, as if he was exposing Lissa’s soul, Cass eased the veil from her face.

He saw her flash of desire, followed by more uncertainty, maybe fear. Why? He’d never hurt her.

Cass cupped her beautiful face in his hands. His work-roughened thumbs stroked her velvety cheeks as he lowered his mouth to hers. This time, he kissed Lissa with tenderness, respect, and patience.

She was his wife and deserved the best.

About Tina:

I’m an award-winning, bestselling novelist in erotic, paranormal, contemporary and historical romance for Kensington, Samhain Publishing, Ellora’s Cave, Siren Publishing, Booktrope, Luminosity, and indie. Yay! Booklist, Publisher’s Weekly, Romantic Times and numerous online sites have praised my work, and trust me, I’m forever grateful for that. I’ve had my books reach finals in the EPIC competition, one title was named Book of the Year at a review site, and others have won awards in RWA-sponsored contests. I’m actually featured in the 2012 Novel & Short Story Writer’s Market. Talk about feeling like a freaking star. Before my writing career, I was the editor of an award–winning Midwestern newspaper and worked in Story Direction for a Hollywood production company. Outside of being an admitted and unrepentant chocoholic, I’ve flown a single-engine plane (scary stuff), rewired an old house using an electricity for dummies book, and have been known to moan like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally whenever I’m eating anything Mexican or Italian. Yeah, I like to eat (burp).

You can check me out here – yes, I am everywhere!
