A Visit to the Double D Ranch


It’s time…come on ladies, let’s visit The Double D Ranch…it’s naughty and full of cowboys!

The Double D Ranch Tales ~ Fictional tales set on a fictional ranch and other locales in southern Nevada. Names, characters, places, and incidents either are products of the authors’ imaginations or are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual events or locales or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.
The Double D Ranch Tales are the exhilarating and sexy tales of authors, C.R. Moss & R.M. Sotera. I’m thrilled to sit down with them and discuss the series.

~ Hi! Glad to be here today!
Kacey – Which 3 adjectives would you use to describe one another?
C.R. –  Dynamic, Intelligent, Perfectionist
R.M. –  Determined, Driven, Perfectionist
Kacey – Did you always want to be a writer growing up? If not, what other occupation(s) had you thought about?
C.R. – For a very brief period of time, I had ideas of becoming a teacher or an astronaut. Both occurred before the age of ten. But for the most part, I knew I wanted to write at a young age, as early as I learned to read. I was always cooking up stories to entertain myself in the rural area I lived in. Had to since there were no other kids around to play with. My defining moment came when I received an A in English in grade school. I was just shy of being a teenager when I had my ‘calling.’ Ever since then, most of my choices in life have revolved around my goal of becoming a full-time fiction writer and being published.
R.M. –  Yes, I’ve always wanted to be a writer growing up, as well as, a school teacher.  I’m lucky because I’m able to enjoy doing both professions. J
Kacey – Which of you is the more “strict” author? (ie: the Taskmaster *g*)
C.R. – Depends upon the project and where we’re at in the story that we’re working on together. We take turns.
R.M. –  I would have to say we both take control at certain times. 
Kacey – What is your writing procedure like? A daily schedule? How do two authors write a story? Take turns chapter by chapter? Details you can share without giving away any of your secrets, of course. *g*
C.R. – First off I’ll check email, do some promotion tasks, then I’ll either work on a draft of a story via longhand, or transcribe what I’ve written in a notebook into the computer, or work on edits. It all depends upon where I’m at with a story or series and what’s in the pipeline of mine at my publishers. As for working on stories together, we do a lot of brainstorming. We have the characters we like to work with, and we divvy up scenes according to our strengths and what needs to be written.
R.M. – My writing schedule changes at different times of the year.  Since I am a school teacher for 9 months out of the year, I usually don’t get a ton of writing time – usually a few hours a week.  However, during the summer I crank out books simply because I have the time to do it. 
Kacey – How did the two of you meet?
R.M. – We met at the Las Vegas Romance Writers organization and have been best pals ever since.
C.R. – Yep. We really hit it off when we both attended a crit group meeting outside of the regular chapter meeting and were able to hang out, talk and get to know each other in a smaller group setting.
Kacey – Which 3 adjectives would you use to describe The Double D Ranch?
C.R. – Beautiful, Romantic, Wild
R.M. – Sexy, Suspenseful, Romantic
Kacey – Who gets to choose which story in your series comes next?
R.M. – Actually, we do it together.  We start brainstorming and before we know it another story is born.
C.R. – I ditto RM’s answer. 🙂
Kacey – Which Dougan male is your favourite? I promise, I won’t tell anyone.
C.R. – Aww, no favorites here. They all have their own special qualities that make them loveable in their own ways.
R.M. – I don’t have a favourite.  I love all the Dougan men! *wink*
Kacey – Which Dougan male do you think readers will love more?
C.R. – Like I said above, they all have their own special qualities, from romantic to brooding to fun-loving jokester, so I’d say it depends upon your mood and which guy is going to resonate with you at that time.
R.M. – I think there is something for every reader in each of the Dougan men, so it really will depend on the reader’s likes and dis-likes when it comes to heroes.
Kacey – What Dougan male is the most stubborn?
R.M. – I’m thinking that could be a tie.  They all have that stubborn streak in them.
C.R. – I agree.
Kacey – How the Dougan sisters stack up against the brothers?
C.R. – Currently, there are no sisters. Back when the ranch was founded, the daughters stayed on the east coast, so they didn’t factor too much into the ranch lifestyle.
R.M. – The Dougan kids are male so they don’t have any sisters.  As for their women…well Cassie, Bristol, Rachel, Roxy, Marianne and the others keep the men on their toes.
Kacey – What type of man will it take to tame the two cowgirls?
C.R. – Strong-willed, determined men.
R.M. – Agreed.
Kacey – Was there anything specific that inspired the series? (ie: tv show/movie, actor or model)?
R.M. – It was a trip to a ranch.
C.R. – Yes, it was. The trip was to a working ranch…cowboys, cattle, horses, eating outdoors, etc. Very inspiring for the muse. 😉
Kacey – How many stories are expected for this series?
R.M. – That is undecided.  As long as the ideas keep flowing the stories will keep coming.
C.R. – Agreed. Right now we’re at two published, one in the process of being written, another outlined, a fifth in the idea/brainstorming stage…
Kacey – The books are set in Nevada…are either of you from that area?
R.M. – No.  I came to Nevada via Pennsylvania and Florida.
C.R. – We both live in NV, but like RM I, too, am a transplant to the state, except I came from NJ.
Kacey – If Lifetime Channel put the series into made-for-tv movies, or if they went to the big screen, which actors/actresses would you love to see play the Dougan siblings?
C.R. – Daktoa = Rib Hillis; Cassie = Vail Bloom (with dark hair); Rachel = Mila Kunis; Dalton = Cameron Mathison
R.M. – Damon – Keith Urban
              Bristol – Sarah Brightman
Kacey – What’s one thing that readers might be surprised to know about you?
C.R. – I like movie musicals…was watching the 1958 version of ‘South Pacific’ just the other night…
R.M. – I’m very OCD
