Since writing DARE a couple of years ago, it’s been on my resolution lists to finally tell Candy’s story. But so far it hasn’t happened. Thankfully, it is a resolution coming true this year!!!!

I’ve had a lot of readers ask if Candy, as well as a couple other secondary characters, would get her/their own stories. I’m a writer who likes her characters to talk to me completely before jumping in to start typing. And to be honest, Candy has been one of the hardest women to work with. She’s nattered a bit, here and there, and just when I get a smidge of an idea on what she is up to, she shuts up, goes back to her modeling gigs and ignores me completely. It’s been difficult to say the least but she’s finally starting talking, which is good news. Well, at least pretty good news…though now she won’t shush up and let me think when I need to. Not even when I’ve been down with a cold. LOL

Candy has been up to a lot but in her story — not yet named — she’s just about at the end of her “peak” as far as age and what the modeling world is looking for nowadays. Enter a hot bartender — also not named. So *** are placeholders for him LOL — who isn’t too impressed with her wealth, her smart mouth or her desire to contract his sister to be the next “top model” for the world.

There’s a lot of dialogue so far, a lot of toe-to-toe arguments along with some very heated moments. Candy handles herself well, isn’t too crazy about the small town where everyone knows your name and won’t let a man dictate to her.

I think readers will love revisiting Candy and a few of the other characters. And I hope to have the story done in the next few wks. Yes, the hero will have a name by then!! LOL
I’ll keep you posted on the story’s progress, when it is submitted, etc.

  15. Well in January my daughter turns 13 and will be a teenager, or in May my husband turns 40 so those should be fun days this year!

    1. 13! My youngest will be a “teen” in March. He’s such a carefree kid, I dont expect him to change much.
      i turned 40 this past Dec…I am done with bdays now. LOL

  23. There are three dates that I am looking forward to in 2015. First is next Wednesday when I am getting my MOM heart tattoo on my left arm (Mom passed in 2012). Second, sometime in July as the actual day is unknown to me when the first Great Gandchild will be born into the Striplin family. Finally, Black Friday when I can go to my tattoo shop and buy a 30% off gift certificate for myself for the next tattoo 🙂 (it will most likely be the Hufflepuff crest on my right shoulder/upper arm 🙂 ). laura.striplin@gmail.com
