“I told them about you.”

Alicia turned and came face-to-face with Cole. Ethan stood to the side of him, nervous, as if he wanted to be anywhere else, a feeling Alicia understood. Ethan’s here, too? Shit, she vaguely remembered one of the brothers mention him earlier. She was more confused than ever. “You told them about me? Why?”

As she stared into Cole’s eyes, the hair on her neck stood up and she turned back to Geoff. Brown eyes, the crow’s feet clearly visible at the corners, the dark hair….

She spun back around to Cole. Inspecting the same eyes, she put the pieces together. She recalled the one night that haunted her dreams with passion and desire, and the small bits of conversation they’d had between bouts of the hottest sex she’d ever had.

“I have two brothers and a sister. As the oldest, there wasn’t a lot of time for me to just do whatever I wanted. Hannah, Nathan, and Geoff demanded a lot of my time after our parents died and I did everything I could to keep them safe and happy. I’ll never let any of them down.”

Alicia closed her eyes as the memories flooded back, surprised she hadn’t put it all together before now. For a year, she’d been friends with Hannah. Neither of them had delved too deep into one another’s lives, but they’d shared a few things. A small world it was, and she had to wonder if Hannah had ever told her brother about her. Especially the one night they’d both drunk a bit too much and shared more than a few secrets.

Fear spiked through her body as she remembered her confession to Hannah…how much Cole Douglass meant to her, even only after one night, and how much she loved his hands tracing her body.

She could only pray Cole’s little sister hadn’t told her big brother everything.
