Awesome, right??

And in sharing favorite stories about gifts, songs, romance, etc., I wanted to share how my wonderful husband spoils me rotten. Some could think that receiving the same thing every single year can get boring but for me, being a simple country girl who loves “no fuss over”, I love the bears that he gives me every year (started the year we got married, 2001). It’s fun to see what color the bears will be, what they might have written on them, and where I will find space to put it! LOL Hubs and I are not fans of flowers that just die within a week, chocolate goes straight to my hips and we don’t really need a specific day to have a quiet dinner, extra cuddle time or moments we have to steal. We spend every possible moment we can together anyway, and he showers me with lots of love, cuddles and kisses every moment possible. So the bears are a tradition now and I love every one of them as I did the first.

Here are a couple photos:

And what is my favorite love song? My wedding song with my husband of course! “Breathe” by Faith Hill is still one of my favorites and we still dance to it.*g*

MWTease15

Happy Wednesday Friends! I hope everyone is doing great!

Special thanks to Angelica Dawson for rallying authors together to share teases every week.

~~~~~~~
This week’s tease comes from my upcoming release, GUARDING HIS ANCHOR, the 2nd Canadian Muscle story, which releases February 21st!  I also just received the shiny new, gorgeous cover for it too.
Guarding His Anchor is Frank and Charlie’s story. Let’s just say, the few years following Guarding Midnight (Book 1), things haven’t been easy. Frank’s come and gone more times than Charlie cares to count, and Frank has returned once again to turn her life upside down.
© Kacey Hammell, 2016
  “Don’t pretend that you were doing me any favors. I never asked you to get involved, Frank.”
final  “Well, of course not,” he growled low. “You’d never have found out any of it if I had my way. I was hoping to get Sean out of trouble and bring him home to you. But you overheard Gavin and I talking before I left. And as far as leaving Vikki, she and I discussed it. She needed space and was only too eager to see me go. She didn’t need my hovering at that point and wanted to stand on her own, or try to. Gavin watched over her for me.” He smiled. “You all did, and I appreciate it very much.”
  “We’ve become great friends.” He loved the way Charlotte’s eyes softened as she talked about his cousin. “It is an honest friendship. And it has nothing to do with you.”
  Months had turned her hard, distant. He only had himself to blame. They hadn’t left things on a positive note, but he’d hoped she’d understand one day.
Hell, he’d foolishly hoped that she would come to appreciate having him on Sean’s case rather than a stranger. Their personal relationship aside, he assumed she’d trust the agent he was, and how long and hard he’d continued searching for Vikki. What other proof did she need to trust him?
  How wrong he’d been.
  “I don’t want to think about Sean doing this.” The worry on her face tore at his heart.   “Was he undercover too long? Is that a reason people believe he’s capable of such violence?”
  “There are many cops and agents that have gone so far undercover they get caught up in the lifestyle and it’s impossible to find their way back.” Sadness crept across her face. “Sorry, Charlie, that’s as honest as it gets.”
  “None of this makes sense.” She stood and piled paperwork on the file cabinet. “It goes against who Sean is, and not who Norris raised. I can’t wrap my head around it. My brother isn’t a monster.”
  Her voice broke, breaking his heart in the process. Frank stood and crossed the room, then rested his hands on her shoulders. “I’m sorry, hon. I know you’re scared, and I’m sorry you have to go through this.”
  Charlotte turned, surprising him, and burrowed her face in his chest. Sobs tore from her, shaking her strong yet delicate frame. He wrapped her in his arms, resting his cheek on her head, and let her cry.
  It had been so long—too long—since he’d inhaled her sweet scent of fruity shampoo and the coconut butter body wash she used every day. He’d barely made it through any meal that served any of the combinations, the memories of her too fervent to let him eat in peace. Soft, warm, and the tranquility that came to him whenever he held her close were all potently his Charlotte.
  Home. Being this close to her again was like coming home. But he wasn’t a man looking for one place to settle down. And it puzzled him why he returned time and time again.
  You know exactly why. You have an addiction, buddy. And she’s in your arms right now.
Cover Reveal – In Bonds of the Earth, the second Book of the Watchers by Janine Ashbless (@sinfulpress)
Would you defy God, for love?
In Bonds of the Earth is the new paranormal erotic romance by Janine Ashbless, and is the second in the Book of the Watchers trilogy. It is due for release on March 1st 2017.
Broad at the shoulders and lean at the hips, six foot-and-then-something of ropey muscle, he looks like a Spartan god who got lost in a thrift store. He moves like ink through water. And his eyes, when you get a good look at them, are silver. Not gray. Silver. You might take their inhuman shine for fancy contact lenses. Youd be wrong.
Blurb:
“I will free them all.”
When Milja Petak released the fallen angel Azazel from five thousand years of imprisonment, she did it out of love and pity. She found herself in a passionate sexual relationship beyond her imagining and control – the beloved plaything of a dark and furious demon who takes what he wants, when he wants, and submits to no restraint. But what she hasn’t bargained on is being drawn into his plan to free all his incarcerated brothers and wage a war against the Powers of Heaven.
As Azazel drags Milja across the globe in search of his fellow rebel angels, Milja fights to hold her own in a situation where every decision has dire consequences. Pursued by the loyal Archangels, she is forced to make alliances with those she cannot trust: the mysterious Roshana Veisi, who has designs of her own upon Azazel; and Egan Kansky, special forces agent of the Vatican – the man who once saved then betrayed her, who loves her, and who will do anything he can to imprison Azazel for all eternity.
Torn every way by love, by conflicting loyalties and by her own passions, Milja finds that she too is changing – and that she must do things she could not previously have dreamt of in order to save those who matter to her.
In Bonds of the Earth is the second in the Book of the Watchers trilogy and the sequel to Cover Him With Darkness.
Excerpt from In Bonds of the Earth:
I was giving my long-dreaded presentation on the anniversary footbridge to Misters Ellis, Singh, Constanzo and Mackenzie…when Azazel walked in.
Oh hell.
“Excuse me, gentlemen,” I said loudly, lurching around from behind my desk, grabbing Azazel’s arm and spinning him back to face the door. “Not here, come on, please,” I implored through clenched teeth.
If there was one thing I’d learned by then, it was to not ignore warning dreams. If I’d paid them more attention from the start, things between me and Egan might have gone very differently back in Montenegro…
No, better not to think of Egan, not when Azazel was around. One guy at a time was quite enough to wrap my head around. Especially this guy.
He humored me though, this time, letting me pull him out of the meeting room and through the open plan office without resistance. We attracted a lot of stares, but there was nothing I could do about that except hold my head high.
“Where are we going?” he asked.
“Out. Anywhere.”
“You’re so impetuous.”
I didn’t need to glance up at his wicked smirk. I could feel it burning its way into my breast.
Bryce, the beardy guy in my new team who’d shown me the ropes of the job and seemed just a tiny bit too eager to talk every morning, stood up from his cubicle to intercept us. “Milja, is everything okay?”
“It’s just fine,” I rasped, towing Azazel faster.
“She’s insatiable,” my demon lover confided with a helpless shrug to my colleague as we swept past.
Bryce stared, mouth open.
“Goddamnit,” I muttered, and Azazel chuckled.
Sometimes it was hard to remember that he’d risked everything to save me.
We reached the doors at the end of the room and I pushed through, past the lobby with the elevators and into the concrete stairwell of the emergency stairs beyond. The only people who came here were smokers on their way to the roof, and it looked empty for now. My panicky momentum fizzled away and I swung to face him.
“What are you doing here?”
“What do you think?” he countered, taking my face in his hands.
“Azazel—” But he cut off my protests with his hungry kiss; a kiss that lanced through me all the way to my core. I gave up resisting, and speaking, and almost breathing, as his lust rolled over me in a hot wet wave. I slid my hands around his neck and tangled my fingers in his messy hair, pulling myself into his embrace. His body was hard as rock, his hands heavy on my waist and hips. The yearning for his touch that smoldered in my flesh day and night woke to a roaring heat.
I’d missed him. His skin, his smile, the peppery scent and salt taste of him. The sweetness of his lips and the harsh rasp of his stubbled chin. I’d missed him so much. Like an addict missing her hit.
Author bio:
Janine Ashbless is a writer of fantasy erotica and steamy romantic adventure. She likes to write about magic and myth and mystery, dangerous power dynamics, borderline terror, and the not-quite-human.
Buyer beware! If you like dark romance and a hard-won Happily Ever After, try “Cover Him with Darkness,” “Heart of Flame,” or “The King’s Viper.” If you prefer challenging erotica, go for “Red Grow the Roses” or “Named and Shamed” instead. All her other books lie somewhere on the spectrum between.
Janine has been seeing her books in print ever since 2000. She’s also had numerous short stories published by Black Lace, Nexus, Cleis Press, Ravenous Romance, Harlequin Spice, Storm Moon, Xcite, Mischief Books, and Ellora’s Cave among others. She is co-editor of the nerd erotica anthology ‘Geek Love’.
Born in Wales, Janine now lives in the North of England with her husband and two rescued greyhounds. She has worked as a cleaner, library assistant, computer programmer, local government tree officer, and – for five years of muddy feet and shouting – as a full-time costumed Viking. Janine loves goatee beards, ancient ruins, minotaurs, trees, mummies, having her cake and eating it, and holidaying in countries with really bad public sewerage.
Her work has been described as:
“Hardcore and literate” (Madeline Moore) and “Vivid and tempestuous and dangerous, and bursting with sacrifice, death and love.” (Portia Da Costa)
Happy Wednesday Friends! I hope everyone is doing great!
Special thanks to Angelica Dawson for rallying authors together to share teases every week.
~~~~~~~

This week’s tease comes from my upcoming Contemporary May/December Erotic Romance, Cover Me.

Here, Leanne has just shared a nice evening with her son’s best friend, Jay, who makes her wish she was at least twenty years younger…

(c)KaceyHammell, 2016

He led her through the door from the bar to hotel lobby. The quiet as they strode through was peaceful. A few guests and resort staff milled around. Leanne loved the cozy atmosphere of the low lighting, large plush couches and chairs, and the smiles on the staff’s faces.

It was the perfect place to hold a wedding.cover-me-evernightpublishing-nov-2016-3drender

“I hope the men you danced with told you how gorgeous you are. That dress is killer on you,” Jay murmured next to her ear.

Leanne’s breath hitched at his words. Stunned, she stared at him, even as he pressed the button for the elevator.

“Are you coming? What floor is your room?”

His voice pulled her from her stupor, and he led her into the elevator, blushing at not realizing he’d even moved. “Oh, thank you. That’s sweet of you. But no, no one mentioned my dress. Sixth floor.”

“They’re idiots,” he complained as he pushed the button for six. “You’re amazing in it.”

Her body heated. Jay’s gaze wandered over her, slow and easy, and lighting with appreciation and—no, she had to be imagining the interest sparking in his eyes. There was no way.

“Don’t be so stunned, Leanne. You’re better looking than any other women.”

She laughed aloud. “You need to get out more and meet new ladies. I’m an old, divorced woman who will retire in the next decade.”

The elevator dinged for her floor, and she exited. After rifling in the side pocket inside her clutch, she withdrew her hotel keycard.

“You’re more than that, Leanne. So much more.” He leaned against the wall, his eyes serious.

“Thank you again. You’ve been so gracious tonight. I can’t thank you enough for it.”

He glanced at her door. “Six-ten. My room is one floor up, right above you. And you’re making tonight sound like a pity date. It wasn’t, I assure you. I’ve loved spending time with you. A lot.”

Hands unsteady, she slid the card into the door access slot. She withdrew it again when the green light blinked, then held the door open with her foot.

“Are we still on for breakfast in the garden tomorrow morning?” he questioned.

It took Leanne a moment to remember mentioning it earlier. As much as she wanted to put distance between them, she equally didn’t want to. “Sounds wonderful. Yes.” She turned and propped the door open with her back. “Meet you in the lobby around eight?”

“I’ll be there.” He smiled, then leaned forward. Leanne sucked in a harsh breath and closed her eyes when his lips brushed a kiss on her cheek. “Good night, gorgeous.” Jay winked, turned, and sauntered down the hall.

Leanne’s heart thudded as she breathed again. The brief smell of men’s cologne and beer filled her senses. Sexy. Attractive. Potent.

Jay.

Damn.

A long sigh escaped her as she stepped into her room and flipped the top lock when the door shut. She toed off her offensive pumps and tossed the clutch onto the side table. Confusion and uncertainty swirled through her. Frowning, she entered the bathroom, pulled on the side zipper, then slid out of her dress.

Jay had to be a practiced and skilled player. He was toying with her, nothing more. She hung up her dress, placed it on the hook behind the door, then stood in front of the full-length mirror.

Men Jay’s age didn’t flirt with her. No man had shown interest in a long time, even before her marriage had fallen apart. Viktor had stopped going to bed with her, usually working late most nights.

She checked her reflection. Red stretch marks marred her skin, but she savored the memories of carrying Beau, of experiencing the impeccable joy of being a mother. Her breasts had suffered little over the years. They didn’t sag to her waist, and it pleased her that lifting weights helped them stay high and firm. Her daily routine involved taking care of herself with good food and an exercise regimen she hated but maintained.

Her stomach was plump but far from imperfect. Her girlfriends commented often that she had the body of a thirty-year-old, not someone who was fifty-three. Biased, since they were her BFFs, but they were still honest with her and showered her with compliments to build her confidence.

But tonight, Jay had her self-esteem standing a hundred feet tall, even if he were only lying.

Her friends were fabulous, but coming from a male perspective meant so much more. She wanted to trust him. For tonight, she did.

It had been too damn long since she felt so present, so alive and visible. Viktor had taken so much of her when he’d walked out the door.

Tonight, Jay had given her a bit of that back.

So why does it feel so right when she’s in his arms?

Cover Me is still in edits, so some polishing left to do, but here’s  small preview …

(c) KaceyHammell, 2016

“Sounds as though you’re enjoying yourself.”

Leanne jumped at the voice behind her and turned.

Pleased with the distraction, she welcomed Jay’s interruption to her thoughts. He always filled her heart with warmth. From the time she’d met him as a young teenager to the promising adult he’d become, he’d held a special place in her heart.

“Jay! I’m glad you’re still here. Beau told me you were staying on a few more days. Good for you. You deserve time off.”

“Hi, Leanne. Thanks. It’s great to see you. Did you enjoy today?”

“I did. It was a gorgeous ceremony. I may just see if I can have breakfast in that garden tomorrow. It’s so stunning out there.”

“A great idea. Can I join you?”

The hopeful expression on his face was so cute and did her in. She was unable to refuse him. She’d always loved having him around the house with Beau, and she liked the idea of catching up with him. They hadn’t seen one another in the last six months. At least not as far as he knew.

Don’t think about that now.

She cleared her throat, nervous. “Yes, you can.” Pushing away the unwanted thoughts, she smiled. Still wired from the day’s excitement, she had energy to burn and didn’t want the evening to end. Spending it with a good friend sounded great.

“Better yet, join me for a drink in the bar? They might still serve food, too. I’m getting hungry.”

Jay held out his arm for her to take his elbow and chuckled. “You never miss an opportunity to eat, do you?”

She laughed and gave his shoulder a light slap. “Don’t tease. I have always had a healthy appetite. At least what I eat doesn’t stay attached to my hips. I may not have my twenty-year-old figure anymore, but working out three times a week helps.”

“You look gorgeous. And sexier than ever.”

Leanne glanced over at him, the husky baritone in his voice surprising her. She’d never heard him sound so masculine.

Goosebumps coated her arms. The hungry look in his brown eyes had her sucking in a deep breath. With the images she’d seen of him, on book covers, magazines, and billboards in town, she saw him in a whole new way.

A sexy, adult male way that she shouldn’t entertain.

Not at her age.

Damn. When did he get so sexy?

Shame on you, woman. You’re old enough to be his mother.

Her inner voice spoke the truth. Her mind drifted to the photo she’d seen of him the other day—clad only in Calvin Klein underwear.

She remembered the way her untouched-for-months body had reacted. Nipples tightening, breathless and chest heaving, tingles of excitement erupted between her thighs. She’d jumped from her bed that night as though it had caught fire and spent the next few hours cleaning her house from room to room to occupy her mind and erase her embarrassment. She had done whatever it took to keep from eyeing Jay in a lustful way.

And now, here she was again, her thoughts drifting in ways that a woman her age shouldn’t entertain. She was such a fool. As if a man twenty years her junior could see her as sexy or desirable.

Cripes, she wasn’t even able to keep her husband—her same age—interested in her. He’d dumped her sorry ass for a blonde bimbo in her early twenties. There’d be no fathomable way she could hold on to a man like Jay.

“You shouldn’t doubt how stunning you are, Leanne.”
