Thursday Thirteen 8/15

Tomorrow marks the 36th ‘anniversary’ of Elvis’ death. I grew up listening to all his songs, watching all his movies, and watching my Mom shed tears whenever there were tributes or specials on TV. She’s one of his biggest fans and to this day is extremely touched by his songs.

Today’s Thursday Thirteen is a list of my favorite Elvis tunes. My fave performance special of his was the 1968 Comeback Special [which I share a few videos from below]. And not just because he looked pretty awesome in that black leather! LOL

Most of the songs below are ballads but some dance beats too that I still enjoy listening to. And I often sing along. Hope Elvis fans enjoy them too.

If I Can Dream —

Are You Lonesome Tonight?
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
Jailhouse Rock

Memories —

Let It Be Me
Teddy Bear

Trouble — (in my opinion, very sexy performance!)

Love Me Tender
Rock-A-Hula Baby
That’s All Right
You’ll Never Walk Alone

Fever —

What’s your favorite Elvis tune? I’d love to know, please share! *g*

‘Til next week,

Kacey

Thursday Thirteen 8/8

back-to-school

My kids return to school on Sept 3rd, so now I start the “Mom on a Mission” of school shopping, getting medical information together, adjusting schedules, arguing over what clothing to wear and what not to wear, and preparing for early morning routines.

So for the next few weeks, I’ll probably be dreaming about the following Thirteen things…

The great debate of Under Armor or Nike shoes – my oldest is a track athlete). Thank goodness he pays for these expensive buggers himself.

Aeropostale vs Old Navy vs Walmart shirts – the youngest says it depends on the material. *sigh*)

Backpacks – straps for both shoulders is best, we go through it every year but I hear the same grievance annually.

Pencils, Pens, Markers

Highlighters

Binders

Plastic report covers – daughter has to have all high school reports looking smashing, and we buy probably 50 of these a year.

USB Jump Drives – Personally, I think the schools use computers too much, but they all need a usb for everything.

Combination locks – these are especially fun for my uncoordinated youngest who can’t quite get the hang of it. LOL

Juice boxes – I go a little crazy when juice boxes are on sale. LOL

Printer Paper & Ink cartridges – now with a second in high school, I expect even more paper & ink flying.

Agendas/Day Planners – school wants to charge $8.00 for an agenda for my youngest since he’s still in grade school. Thanks but I’ll get one from the dollar store! Thankfully the older two can use their cell phones!

Skinny jeans & too-tight of jeans – a Mom’s nightmare. My 17 y.o. is conservative for a lot of things but the jeans nowadays are just ridiculous. Too tight, too constricting, I’m surprised the girls aren’t in the hospital with bruises on their thighs and butts.

So that’s it. The craziness that will be my life for the next few weeks.

Until next week,

Kacey

Thursday Thirteen: I Confess!

I confess, I haven’t read every author out there. Tragic isn’t it? *g*

And I’m a girl of habit sometimes. I like to buy a lot of books by authors I regularly buy. But it was a resolution this year to try more new authors. So I have, but not as many as I’d like. I’ve purchased books by these authors but haven’t had the time to read just yet.

So here’s 13 that I sadly haven’t read before, and the books I’ve bought and need to consume, but hope to do so as soon as I can…

I have to find the time to read these. Who do we have to beg for more hours in the day??

Thursday Thirteen 7/18

I love a good tv show. Hubs & I record probably 20-30 shows every week. Some we tape a whole season and then watch during the summer or a rainy weekend, others we watch within a couple days. I grew up watching a lot of old westerns with my folks, crime shows, and family comedies. I find these days that there isn’t enough family tv on the air, at least not like when I was a kid.

So I thought I’d take a step back into my childhood — I’ll be 39 later this year — so these are the shows that I remember the most and ones I enjoyed immensely and wish they were still on the air (some I do have DVD copies of) but they should still be on the air.

This week’s 13 … TV Shows I Miss …

2dads

Though these Dads weren’t gay … this show was ahead of the game with 2 men raising one child.

Ernest Borgnine & that awesome helicopter…need I say more?

Oh the shenanigans of this show!!! Have all seasons on DVD. Had a blast watching with my boys.

Have watched my dvds so many times. Loved Shannen Doherty a lot, but was pleased with Rose McGowan when she came in. Love witches!

Spending some time this summer watching dvds with the kids. The Olsen twins were adorable then weren’t they?

My kids get a kick out of these old shows. And all now know how to do the Carleton dance. Iconic & classic comedy. And still love Will Smith … hard.

AAAAAYYYYYY! Fonz was awesome!

MacGyver-Wallpaper1

Richard Dean Anderson as MacGyver…my first real teen crush. OMG he was hunky. Hoping to get the full seasons for my oldest boyo for Xmas this year.

These guys were so much fun. Loved watching this with my dad. He loved that muscle car — Ford Gran Torino.

thefactsoflife

Mrs. Garrett made everything seem so small. Loved the advice she gave out. And Tootie … unique name for a girl. Plus this show also first introduced us to George Clooney…mmm

Any shows from the “old” days you miss? Tell me!

See you all next week.

Thursday Thirteen 3/14

Good morning all! Another week has flown by. Shoot, March is half over! Can’t believe how fast time goes.
So, this week’s 13 ... Think you know a lot about me? I’ve revealed many things about myself in various interviews. But, here’s Thirteen things I don’t think I’ve shared before…

#1 — I LOVE tacos & quesadillas.

#2 — My heritage is English, Irish, and Scottish – makes for a lot of fun family get-togethers! We’re all a feisty group! *g*

#3 — I have only received one speeding ticket in my life. I was in a hurry to pick up my kid, didn’t give myself enough time. Lesson learned for sure!

#4 — I got my driver’s license when I was 20.

#5 — My one regret is not playing ANNIE in my grade school musical. I had the red hair for it but I didn’t — #6 explains why.

#6 — My biggest fear & makes me want to vomit just thinking about it – public speaking. Makes my hands sweat and I feel lightheaded.

#7 — My fave cartoon character is Yosemite Sam.

#8 — My 80s crushes were ~ Kevin Bacon & John Stamos.

#9 — I’m scared senseless of snakes…seriously. My one recurring nightmare since I was teen is being smothered by a snake. Not sure why it started but I have it frequently.

#10 — My lucky number is 17.

#11 — I’m a bit of a cougar (so my daughter says), I love beefy, brawny, sexy young guys (ie: Taylor Lautner, Zac Efron, Steven R. McQueen). What can I say…I appreciate the male form. # 12 confirms my younger man appreciation…

#12 — My husband is 6 years younger than I am.

#13 — Since I mastered texting, I detest talking on the phone. I mean really, who does that anymore?? LOL

So how about you? Tell me something about yourself! I’d love to hear any similarities to any of the above that apply to you.

Have a great week ahead.
